Celebrities tend to be icons when it comes to style and glamour. Of course, the average person will look up to those in the spotlight as trendsetters. After all, they are the ones being talked about and being paid attention to. Throw the most desirable and expensive cars into the mix, and it just makes sense that celebrities would want to express themselves through their cars. Hey, even the average car owner customizes their car from time to time.

But personal taste is just that: personal. What may seem like the perfect style to one person makes no sense to another. When you're the center of attention as a celebrity, it's only inevitable that your car will be seen by millions of people worldwide. This leads to some, ahem, interesting displays of personal automotive taste by various celebs.

Here are 15 cars that were "ruined" by the stars who own them.

15 will.i.am - DeLorean DMC-12

Out of every car suitable as a base for a custom car, why a DeLorean? Choosing such a rare, but poor performing sports car doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Even less sensible is the styling, as it looks more like it was designed for a low budget video game.

The customization was carried out by the legendary West Coast Customs, but to add to the absurdity, will.i.am seems to think it was built from the ground up.

14 will.i.am - VW Beetle

The nicest thing one can say here is that will.i.am is at least consistent with his taste in custom cars. Once again looking like a car from a budget video game, this Volkswagen Beetle's biggest offense is that it took around half a decade and $900,000 to complete.

That's not to say the styling isn't offensive in itself, personally, as a classic VW Beetle can look way better than this whale on wheels. But hey, taste is a personal matter.

13 Justin Bieber - Fisker Karma

The Fisker Karma may not have been the biggest sales success, but it is well renowned for its gorgeous body lines and elegant styling. How do you ruin the natural flow of elegant body lines? Mirror levels of polish reflective chrome. Throw in some LED underglow and you have a rolling monument to flashy taste meeting elegant styling.

12 Justin Bieber - Audi R8

The Audi R8 made its mark on the sports car world by being brutally fast when you wanted it to be, yet toned down in terms of everyday driving and styling. Just like with his Fisker Karma, Justin Bieber decided to ignore the concept of "toned down elegance" by opting for the most visually offensive wrap possible—leopard print.

11 Nicki Minaj - Lamborghini Aventador

Let's be honest here, a solid color is far better than leopard print on an exotic supercar. However, satin pink might not be the best choice for a car as sleek and sporty as a Lamborghini Aventador. Rap and pop star Nicki Minaj paid no mind to this though, turning her Italian exotic into an all-pink monstrosity.

10 Paris Hilton - Bentley Continental GT

Look, pink cars aren't bad by default—it's a combination of the car's body lines, the gloss level of the paint, and the attention to detail that decide whether a color will look good or bad. Paris Hilton managed to hit the sweet spot of "awful pink" with this Bentley. Perhaps if the mesh grilles weren't also turned pink it might not have been so hard to look at.

9 Chris Brown - Lamborghini Huaracan

The sad part about Chris Brown's history of Lamborghini ownership is that this over-the-top paintjob is far from the most hideous he's had. Compare this Huracan to his previously totaled Hot Wheels Gallardo or strange camo Aventador.

Even worse, that widebody kit looks good, so long as you don't ruin the lines of the car with abstract "art" all over it.

8 Deadmau5 - Ferrari 458

Does a short-lived internet meme deserve a place on one of the best modern Ferraris? Yes, according to Deadmau5. But Ferrari themselves think not, having sent the EDM artist a cease and desist, demanding the custom "Purrari" badges and wrap be removed immediately.

Personally not liking the customization is one thing; using legal force as a manufacturer to demand it be undone is another.

7 Tyga - Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG

The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is perhaps one of the coolest modern supercars. It's hard not to love the deep roar of its V8, the wickedly cool gullwing doors, and the all-around subdued brutality of the styling.

Yet the rapper Tyga decided to throw refined German elegance right out the window and wrapped his SLS AMG rose gold chrome. Es ist nicht gut!

6 Hulk Hogan - Dodge Viper

The first-generation Dodge Viper is an all-out powerhouse that was designed and built to be as fast and brutal as possible. The looks reflected this.

The look Hulk Hogan decided to go for with his Viper, on the other hand, is more reflective of a McDonald's Happy Meal toy. Then again, it does reflect Hulk's signature look and did some genuine good when it was auctioned off for charity.

5 Farrah Fawcett - Corvette C3

If you think celebrities going wild with customizing the latest and greatest cars is a new phenomenon, you'd be wrong. Proof of this is Charlie's Angels star Farrah Fawcett's C3 Corvette from the ‘70s.

With some out-of-control pinstriping, custom fenders and lights, a fully fur-covered interior, and even a TV for the passenger, Fawcett's Corvette sure is one wild ride, even if it does reflect the questionable taste of the 70s.

Fast, big, heavy, powerful—those are all terms you can use to describe both NFL players and muscle cars like the Cutlass 442. Belonging to quarterback Cam Newton, this old school beast is certainly unique.

That isn't even gold chrome wrap on the bumpers and trim—it's dipped in genuine 24-karat gold. If it weren't for the massive rims with rubber band tires, this classic muscle car might actually have looked good.

3 Dennis Rodman - Hummer H1

If you want to really understand how hideous this car is, and you're over 18 and not at work, look up photos of the side of this car—they're too inappropriate to show here. But the back alone tells the story pretty well.

Making the tackiest custom wrap for what can rightfully be considered the tackiest SUV of all time adds up to one hell of an eyesore. Maybe that's why Rodman's caricature in the window is looking away from the car.

2 Marshawn Lynch - Jeep Wrangler

Jeep rose into legendary status for making no-nonsense, extremely capable off-road vehicles. While it can be argued that NFL superstar Marshawn Lynch's Jeep is still just as capable off-road—if not even more so—he sure did add a whole lot of nonsense.

Again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and this beholder isn't a fan of over the top cosmetic modifications on a Jeep Wrangler.

1 Juan Uribe - Porsche Cayenne

The Porsche Cayenne was a controversial car when it first was released. This was mostly due to the fact that it was a Porsche SUV, but also because many people found it to be horrendously ugly.

Former MLB Infielder Juan Uribe decided his Cayenne wasn't ugly enough and opted for ASMA Design's Cayenne body kit. Not much else can be said about the looks aside from "just look at this ugly thing."
