The current Z06 Corvette is a monster; An aluminum boned, 505 horsepower beast capable of toppling even the most exotic supercars from their ivory towers.

But something even more wicked this way comes.

The new ZR1 is a 600+ horsepower abomination driven by an Eaton 4-lobe supercharger bolted onto a revised 6.2-liter V-8. Stopping power is provided by the same massive Brembo brake rotors used on the Bugatti Veyron, which hardly fit inside the 19-in front wheels, while the rear brake rotors fit a bit more comfortably in the 20-in wheels, and are borrowed from the Ferrari Enzo.

When Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear reviewed the Z06 he raved about the performance, track-ability, and overall “bang for your buck” but lamented that once you got the car off the track it become completely un-drivable due its impossibly low clearance and stiff-as-a-board suspension. Unlike the Z06, the ZR1 will offer it’s drivers a more civil road going experience through the use of Magnetic Ride control; a system that allows the car to switch from “Sport” to “Comfort” with the push of a button.

The ZR1 will be limited to just 2000 units a year, will likely cost around $100,000, and will be easily recognized by its carbon-fiber roof, enlarged air ducts, and heaps of supercars left smoldering in its wake.
