The Mercedes-Benz S-Class sedans are proof that you don’t have to sacrifice comfort and safety for power. By far the largest sedan that Mercedes offers, the S-Class comes in four distinct trims, two of which come with V-8 engines, while the other two strike out with V-12s. According to Mercedes-Benz USA , the major benefit of the S-Class is the PRE-SAFE system, which prepares the vehicle for a collision when one is intuited by the system.

Of course, safety isn’t the only thing going for the Mercedes-Benz S-Class sedans, and the 2007 redesign carries over into the 2008 model year with grace and precision. The pronounced wheel well flares, angled torso and understated back end give this car appeal to anyone with a love of luxury, and the interior features are just as attractive. The walnut trim, heated front seats, Voice Control system and six-disc CD changer all come standard on the S550, and that’s just the entry-level trim.

The 2008 model of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class ranges in price from $87,525 (S550) to $194,825 (S65 AMG), and the options for interior and exterior luxuries only increase with the price. According to Edmunds.com , the V-6 S-Class levels can hit 60 in under six seconds, while the V-12 versions come in under four seconds. This is quite a feat for a large luxury sedan, and Edmunds reports that the vehicle is lighter on its feet than anyone would have guessed by its size.
