After much speculation, Volkswagen finally unveiled their sporty new beauty at the Geneva Motor Show.
In the past, Volkswagen has enjoyed great success by taking the Beetle, one of their signature vehicles, and bringing it back with a modern spin. For the 2009 model year, Volkswagen promises a sportier, 21st-century version of a 1970s classic, the Scirocco.
Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show
As is the case with any new concept car, speculation has been running high about the new Volkswagen Scirocco, but Left Lane News reports that the automobile manufacturer has unveiled this sporty vehicle at the Geneva Motor Show.
Volkswagen will offer three gas engines (120, 145 or 158 horsepower) and a diesel motor (140 horsepower). Left Lane News reports that the standard transmission is a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

Based on its appearance at the Geneva Motor Show, consumers can expect the following standard features in the new two-door Scirocco:
Six airbags Power windows Air conditioning 17-inch alloy wheels Height adjustable driver and front passenger seats
Will Volkswagen Sell Their New Scirocco in the United States?
According to Consumer Guide, Volkswagen will not make the 2009 Scirocco available for sale in the United States because executives in Volkswagen’s American offices are afraid it will cut into the sales of the GTI, another popular sports coupe.
Nothing is written in stone, though, and as Left Lane News points out, Scirocco prototypes have shown up in the United States, which makes one think that Americans will get a chance to enjoy this beautiful and sporty new Volkswagen.
