Manufacturers like BMW and Audi can no longer sit back and believe they still dominate the medium-size luxury-market segment. Under pressure after car owners have complained about unreliability and inconsistencies in technical design, these market giants are feeling the pinch from the Infiniti M45. When it comes to great handling, reliability and value for money, this car can really hold its own. It has the sleek lines and engine robustness of the BMW 5-Series and could cost up to $10,000 less.
This gem comes with a 4.5-liter V8 engine that produces 325 hp, achieves a top speed of 143 mph and does 0-60 mph in 5.3 seconds. Over a quarter mile it takes the Infinity M45 only 13.8 seconds to reach 101.6 mph. This kind of raw power is not to be sneezed at.
Many remarkable standard features like a leather-appointed interior and African-rosewood trim make this car easy to buy even at base level. However, there are sport, technology and premium packages which can be added at a reasonable cost of between $1,650 and $9,650, depending on what revs your engine.
The list of multiple features available in this car’s cockpit looks like the instruction manual for a space station. A power-tilt and telescoping steering wheel with cruise, hands-free phone and audio system controls, and a “Vehicle Information System” with “Infiniti Controller” and seven-inch display are just two of the high-tech standard features provided to make your driving experience an absolute pleasure.
The exterior of the car is aerodynamically molded for maximum performance. It manages airflow so effectively the body only has a 0.28 coefficient of drag, with a zero-lift front. The doors, hood and trunk are made of aluminum. The tinted-glass moon roof features a tilt function and sliding sunshade. The M45 also has a dual exhaust with quad chrome outlets.
To provide for safety, this vehicle comes with an advanced air-bag system, seat-belt and occupant-classification sensors, lower anchors and tethers for children and four-wheel anti-lock brakes, just to mention a few.
From beginning to end this car is able to fulfill all areas of expectation.
