BMW is set to enter the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in 2023, as the brand returns to the top level of endurance racing. Having chosen the LMDh category of the new combined WEC and IMSA hypercar class, BMW has now revealed its 2023 challenger, which has the name BMW M Hybrid V8. The company has also shown off a striking camouflage livery for the car, and BMW say that the new car celebrates the history of BMW M Motorsport in North America.

This new car marks a new era for the BMW brand as they look to take on the Daytona 24 Hours, and they may well enter the Le Mans 24 Hours as well. There are a few BMW M design elements across the new car, such as the 50th anniversary logo and the Hofmeister kink window graphics.

BMW has not yet revealed what the exact specifications of its engine configuration is, but this gives us a great look at the new car and follows on from teasers from Acura and the testing program we have seen Porsche undertake with its own LMDh car. Other brands such as Cadillac will also enter into the LMDh class.
