It wasn’t that long ago that the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series was stealing the track record at the Nürburgring. But since then, there has been a desire to push the car further and to see what it can do. Now, German aftermarket specialist Opus has produced what appears to be the first AMG GT Black Series with over 1,000 hp—or 1,111 hp, to be exact. And to put that into perspective, that is more horsepower than the much-lauded Mercedes Project-One. The build of the car is showcased in this video by Misha Charoudin.

Development Car Already Produces 1,000+ HP

This video shows Opus taking their development car that will be used to test out the engineering and development of the 1,000+ hp package for the Black Series. Opus is run by Lukas and has not been around for long, previously being called Renntech Europe, but they are incredibly ambitious. Opus has already prepared turbo upgrades for the car as part of a stage 1 performance boost. This would also see the car ran on the dyno to see how much power it currently produces.

Extreme Aero Detail Is The Name Of The Game

The video shows Lukas and his team checking the software updates, and making sure it can handle all of that additional power. That attention to detail and perfection extends to inside the engine bay, with even aerodynamic shark fins inside that bay to add extra aero performance. One of the biggest external upgrades is that of the front splitter. Currently, the car is in road-legal mode regarding its front splitter. But when pulled out, and with supporting struts in place, the Mercedes has extra downforce and is ready for the track.

License Plate Hints At The Baseline Performance Figure

To hint at the horsepower, the license plate features the number ‘1001.' The car is given a quick dyno run, and while it is not let loose and no ultimate performance figures are given, the upgrades already on the car will give the Black Series around 1,096 hp! There are plenty of other cool features on the car too such as exhaust upgrades, and a particulate filter delete which will be needed for certain markets. This is an incredible car, and there are still further upgrades to come in the near future. This car might well break some more Nurburgring records in the not-too-distant future.
