2019 is going to be an interesting year for the car enthusiasts around the globe. We have many new vehicles coming our way and we couldn’t be more excited. Well, at least for some of them. While there seems to be a lot of promising cars getting ready to hit the market in 2019, there are also some that we don’t care about at all. So today, we are going to take a closer look at 20 upcoming vehicles to determine which are worth the wait and which are not. As per usual, there are a lot of upcoming vehicles to consider.

From cool new sports cars to family-friendly SUVs, the automakers have been busy developing their new models and the competition is going to be tight! Everybody aims to be the winner with their compelling new entries. Unfortunately, while everybody aims to impress the potential customers, it is already pretty clear that some of them have failed at their attempts. While the innovation and creativity are good, too much of them can end up being a bit off-putting.

So without further ado, let’s take a look at 10 cars coming in 2018 we don’t care about and 10 that we can’t wait to drive!

20 NO: Chevrolet Blazer

YouTube

When it comes to the new Chevy Blazer that will hit the market in 2019, unfortunately, we are less than impressed. Yes, it does look kind of cool, but once you take a closer look, you realize that it is basically a crossover with a Camaro front end. It will have 305 horsepower when equipped with a V-6 but the four-cylinder model won’t even top 200 ponies and will have next to no towing capability. You can basically think of it as a Camaro SUV that nobody really wanted to see.

19 YES: Aston Martin DBS Superleggera

GTSpirit

Aston Martin did it again! They designed a gorgeously styled coupe with a carbon fiber body, 2+2 interior, a 5.2-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine, 715 horsepower, a performance-enhanced eight-speed automatic transmission, and many other features that we are very excited to test.

Not only does it look awesome but everything points out to a great performance when it comes to this new addition to the Aston Martin family.

According to Aston Martin website describes it as aggressive, yet beautiful; super lightweight, yet powerfully strong; a commanding presence, yet lavishly finished.

18 NO: Volkswagen I.D. Crozz

via autotrader

The new Volkswagen I.D. Crozz is set to hit the market by the end of 2019 – and we are not nearly as excited about it as we thought we would be. It will be an all-electric car with 300 horsepower, but we are still not impressed. The problem is that it’s essentially a poor man's BMW X6, as it has that weird look that resembles a sedan sitting on SUV suspension. Unfortunately, Volkswagen didn’t do much to improve the original concept presented in 2017. They basically just painted it in a new color, called it Crozz II and that was that.

17 YES: Audi A8

Guide Auto

The 4th generation of Audi’s flagship sedan will hit the market in 2019 and we can’t wait to drive it! From the beautifully designed interior covered in leather and trimmed in wood to its fresh overall design, the new A8 might be one of the best cars to debut in 2019.

Powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine with 48-volt “mild hybrid” technology, A8 will be equally as impressive under the hood as on the outside.

With the new safety technologies and numerous cool features, there are many reasons to look forward to this one!

16 NO: Hyundai Santa Cruz Pickup

via youtube

Yes, we are well aware that pickup truck popularity has been steadily growing over the years and that every automaker wants to put the coolest new pickup on the market. That being said, it is probably not going to be Hyundai Santa Cruz. The pickup bed is too small, the rear seat is bound to be cramped, and there will not be much of a towing power either. So what is the purpose of a pickup if you can’t actually pick anything up with it?

15 YES: Bentley Continental GT

The Torque Report

What is there not to love about the gorgeous new Bentley Continental GT? We all know that Bentley sets their own over-the-top standards when it comes to design and comfort and the new Continental did not disappoint us.

The interior is upholstered in rich leather while the beautiful wooden trims and piano black finishes make it look even more luxurious.

It is powered by a 6.0-liter W12 engine with 626 horsepower while the top speed is a warp-nine 207 mph.

14 NO: Polestar 1

The Verge

At the first glance, Polestar 1 looks pretty impressive. Although it does seem kind of familiar, doesn’t it? And once you really start thinking about it, this vehicle becomes much less impressive.

The thing is, we’ve seen this one before. It is basically just a re-purposed Volvo concept we’ve seen a couple of years back. Meanwhile, Polestar became a stand-alone company, they created some new badges, slapped them on an old concept and - voila. Polestar 1 was presented to all of us (again).

13 YES: Volvo V60

via car and driver

The new 2019 Volvo V60 has the potential to be one of the coolest mid-size SUVs to hit the market in 2019. There will be two variants to choose from.

Car and Driver reports: “There is the T5 front-wheel drive variant that delivers as much as 250 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, and the T6 all-wheel-drive variant that can churn out 316 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.”

So not only does it look great but you will also be able to choose the model that best fits your needs. The new V60 will be available for purchase in early 2019.

12 NO: Jeep Scrambler

News4C

Jeep is getting ready to launch their new pickup and we are expecting it to be more or less a disaster. While the good old Wrangler was a true workhorse, Scrambler is a strange mix of old and new that makes us wonder why this thing is even happening in the first place. It will use the last-gen Wrangler’s frame but have new-gen Wrangler looks. And, while the old truck looked like a proper truck, this thing will look like FCA took a complete Wrangler with a slightly longer wheelbase and bolted a bed to the rear. Is that really enough to make a completely new car and put it on the market? Well, at least the name Scrambler makes sense.

11 YES: BMW M850i xDrive

DriveMag

It’s the final testing time for the new BMW M850i xDrive and we are more than excited to see this impressive new vehicle hit the market in 2019.

It is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter 530-horsepower V8 engine, it goes from 0 to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds, and uses an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The interior is covered in Merino Individual leather with contrast stitching for an additional touch of class and luxury. Functions like self-parking and all-wheel-drive come standard and there are many cool additional options to choose from.

10 NO: GMC Acadia

Top Speed

Don’t get us wrong; GMC Acadia seems like a solid vehicle worth purchasing but we can’t help but feel we’ve seen this one before, so many times… There is nothing really innovative about its design, no exciting new features, and no real creativity put into creating this new mid-size SUV. Basically, yes, it is a good car but we didn’t need another one of those because there are already so many of them out there. But will it get you safely from the point A to the point B? Yes, it will.

9 YES: Chevrolet Corvette ZR1

Car and Driver

Chevrolet had decided to bring us their new supercar and from what we can tell at this point, they appear to be pretty successful at that with their new Corvette ZR1.

It comes in both coupe and convertible variants and it is the fastest Corvette ever.

Powered by a new dual fuel-injected supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine and with its 755 horsepower who wouldn’t be excited to try out this impressive new addition to the Chevy family? Especially considering all the amazing features this car is packed with.

8 NO: Lexus UX

MotorAuthority

With its rivals from BMW and Mercedes-Benz being around for years, it was only a matter of time when Lexus would finally come up with something like the new UX. So, was it worth the wait? Well, not really. Yes, we agree that its dramatic styling is kind of attractive but that is about it. On paper, it doesn’t offer too much power, the CVTs definitely aren’t our favorite transmissions, AWD comes only with a hybrid, and all in all, it is a bit underwhelming.

7 YES: Genesis G70

AutoGuide.com

In 2019, Genesis will claim an entry on sports luxury sedan market with its new G70 and we are pretty impressed with what they have done here. It is a bit of a gamble to put out a car like this by a new brand such as Genesis, especially considering the competition in this class, but so far, we have no reason to doubt the success of this impressively looking vehicle. If you are not familiar with Genesis, it is a new brand that launched 3 years ago above parent company Hyundai.

6 NO: Lincoln MKC

Forbes

Lincoln MKC seems like a fine daily driver but considering the rivals, unfortunately, it falls short of the standards they set. That being said, on the plus side, that the price is among the lowest in the class.

While the design is not bad, MKC introduces nothing that we haven’t seen before.

In addition to that, the cargo space is subpar, the handling is quite uninspiring, the rear seats seem kind of undersized etc. All in all, we have a feeling that Lincoln didn’t put as much thought into creating this car as they should have.

5 YES: Honda Insight

via the torque report

Forget all you know about the Honda Insight because the 2019 Insight is all about innovation and change. The old and the new Insight share names but that is where the similarities end. The new Insight introduces fuel-efficient powertrain, conservative, handsome styling, spacious interior, standard active safety features, and, all in all, excellent value. It’s a well-equipped compact sedan we would like to take out for a night in town. It rides comfortably and smoothly and it has that cool classy touch we like to see in sedans.

4 NO: Jeep Cherokee

Car and Driver

The new 2019 Jeep Cherokee is just blah. It’s not the worst car ever, but it is definitely not the best one either. There is very little to be excited about with the new Cherokee.

Some styling is derivative, fuel economy is less than impressive, there have been problems with the 9-speed’s occasional hiccups, and the interior space arrangement is somewhat awkward.

It makes for an ok daily driver but it doesn’t have that classic Jeep’s charm we hoped for. Meh (shoulder shrug).

3 YES: Toyota Avalon

Car and Driver

The 2019 Toyota Avalon gives us a lot of reasons to look forward to it and we can’t wait to try it out. This time, they decided to take on more adventurous waters and it appears that the risk paid off. The new Avalon has a very attractive and cool exterior and equally as impressive interior, easygoing road manners, comfortable rear seats, smooth and not too expensive hybrid option, and a great set of standard features. 2019 can’t come soon enough!

2 NO: Hyundai Veloster

myAutoWorld.com

The new Hyundai Veloster doesn’t seem like a bad car. It is just not interesting enough for us to really care about the fact that it exists. Remember the time when everybody thought Veloster was going to be discontinued?

Well, Hyundai decided to give it another go but they could have probably done a better job.

We are not impressed with the on-center steering wheel, the sticky manual, the firm ride that might get tiring in commuting, and the dual-clutch that automatically bumbles an occasional shift. Well, at least it’s pretty.

1 YES: Volkswagen Arteon

Autoweek

The new Volkswagen Arteon replaces the old CC and brings many new features that we are pretty excited to see.

It offers additional interior room by stretching the former CC’s wheelbase and creating the wider body while the inside is covered either in standard leatherette upholstery or the optional Nappa leather.

Forbes reports: “It comes powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged and direct-injected 268-horsepower four-cylinder engine that’s mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission; all-wheel-drive is available across the line.” Both the design and the performance are right on spot!
