Hollywood loves to give police officers badass cars. Do you remember the 1973 Ford Falcon XB GT that Max Rockatansky drove in Mad Max (1979)? Or the 1957 Plymouth Belvedere from The California Kid (1974)? More recently, the Fast & Furious saga featured some really cool police cars like the Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX, which was the first car driven by Brian aka Paul Walker.

In real life, Dubai takes the crown for the most impressive police cars. Tourists and residents have discovered that Dubai uses luxury vehicles like the Bugatti Veyron, the Mercedes-AMG GT63 S, the Bentley Continental GT, the Maserati GranTurismo, the Aston Martin One-77, the McLaren MP4-12C, the Tesla Cybertruck and the Lamborghini Aventador as police cars. For those who’ve envisioned a society where cops can afford to buy and drive flashy luxury cars, these are the best electric cars that would make awesome police cars.

Dubai police now operate one of the most impressive fleets in the world, and in 2019, the city opted to include the Tesla Cybertruck in its collection. Considering that quick supercars and hypercars are a common sight in the U.A.E., the choice makes sense. Let’s face it, you can’t chase a Bugatti Veyron in a Chevrolet Impala.

If everyone is switching to electric vehicles, even police departments should choose a hypercar like the Drako GTE to liven up the situation. The quad motors can generate 1,200 horsepower and 6,491 lb-ft of torque. Given that the Drako GTE can travel at a top speed of 206 mph, you can be sure that the bad guys won't be able to flee from a highway pursuit.

Equally impressive, this beast reaches the top speed of 194.5 mph and can accelerate from 0 to 124 mph in 7.1 seconds. It’s also worth noting that the EP9 is not road legal, and the vehicles sold thus far, went to Nio investors.

“The vehicle was purchased using American Rescue Plan Act funds. We also applied funding from an LEA grant, as well as donations to the purchase. The purchase price of the vehicle was around $60,000. More importantly, it’s projected to save our village over $80,000 throughout its 10-year duty cycle,” said Trepczyk.
