Unveiled in 2019 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the Porsche Taycan is a range of all-electric cars manufactured by Porsche. Designed by Michael Mauer and based on the J1 platform, the latest Taycan is offered in five trims, the Turbo S being the highest. Power for exceptional performance is supplied by two efficient permanently excited liquid-cooled synchronous motors, one for each axle. b b
Both motors produce a combined output of 750 hp and 774 lb-ft of torque, giving the Taycan Turbo S an outstanding power to weight ratio. Power transmission is through a one-speed gear on the front axle, while an innovative two-speed gear is used for transmission on the rear axle. While most of these gas-powered supercars have higher top speeds, the Taycan Turbo S accelerates quicker. So read on for ten insane supercars that the Porsche Taycan Turbo S would easily destroy on the track.
10 Audi R8 V10 Coupe
The Audi R8 V10 Coupe, unveiled by Audi AG in December 2008, featured subtle changes in design from the earlier V8 units. It drew power from a Lamborghini-based 5.2-liter V10 engine tuned to produce an output of 525 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque.
This was enough to send the Audi to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds, the quarter-mile in 11.5 seconds, and a top speed of 196 mph. Despite weighing less than the Porsche, the Audi lacks sufficient output to give it an advantage; hence it'll come in second on the track.
9 Ferrari 458 Spider
Introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2011, the 458 Spider is the convertible version of the Ferrari 458 Italia. Sitting behind the driver, a 4.5-liter V8 engine sends 562 hp and 398 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 7-speed automatic transmission.
Tipping the scales at 3009 pounds, the Ferrari 458 spider was able to hit 62 mph in 3.3 seconds and clear the quarter-mile in 11 seconds. Although this was an impressive feat back then, it will certainly falter against the Porsche Taycan Turbo S.
8 Aston Martin Vanquish S V12
When unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in 2004, the n. The 6-liter V12 engine that powered it was tuned to produce an output of 530 hp and 427 lb-ft of torque. Sending this to the rear wheels through a 6-speed automatic transmission could only take the Vanquish S to 60 mph in 4.9s and through the quarter-mile in 12.8s.
Weighing over 1000 pounds higher but with significantly greater power and torque, the Taycan Turbo S will vanquish the Vanquish S anytime.
7 Ferrari 599 GTO
In 2010, the Ferrari 599 GTO, with production limited to 599 copies, was built as the street-legal version of the 599xx. Claimed to be Ferrari's fastest road car, it went from 0-60 mph in a blistering 3.1 seconds, cleared the quarter-mile in 11 seconds, and maxed out at 208 mph.
This is made possible by a 6-liter V12 churning out 661 hp and 457 lb-ft of torque to feed the rear wheels. Although it boasts a higher power-to-weight ratio, the Porsche's superior torque-to-weight ratio and AWD allow quicker acceleration.
6 Acura NSX Type S
Acura marks the end of the second generation of NSX with a limited production run of 350 units for the 2022 model year. The NSX Type S is powered by a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 combined with three electric motors to generate 600 hp and 492 lb-ft of torque.
With all the wheels powered, the NSX Type S hits 60 mph in 2.9 seconds before maxing out at 190 mph. Armed with a higher torque to weight ratio, the Porsche is the quicker beast with a 0-60 time of 2.4 seconds.
5 1999 Leblanc Caroline
Built in Zurich and introduced in 1999, the Leblanc Caroline is an ingeniously designed closed street-legal racing car built with space-age materials. Power is supplied by a twin-turbo 4-cylinder engine that displaces 2 liters to deliver an output of 512 hp and 398 lb-ft of torque.
Feeding the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission, it propels the Caroline to 60 mph in 2.7 seconds. Since the $863,000 supercar clears the quarter-mile in 10.8 seconds, it will come in second against the Porsche Taycan Turbo S on the drag strip.
4 BMW M8 Competition
Developed and marketed by BMW M, the BMW M8 Competition was introduced in 2019 as the performance version of the BMW 8 Series. Power is gotten from a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that is good for 617 ponies and 553 lb-ft of torque.
The 4251-pound BMW goes from 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds and clears the quarter-mile in 10.7 seconds. Comparing their lap times on several tracks, the Taycan Turbo S has the edge over the BMW even with a lower top speed.
3 Bentley Continental GT
Debuting at the 2003 Geneva Motor Show, the Continental GT was the first Bentley released under Volkswagen AG management. Based on the Volkswagen Group MSB platform and currently in its third generation, it sports a 6-liter twin-turbo W12 power plant.
Producing 626 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque, it sends the 5011-pound Bentley to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds and through the quarter-mile in 11.5 seconds. Though heavier than the Bentley, the Porsche has a higher power to weight ratio and ultimately performs better.
2 Aston Martin DBS Superleggera
Unveiled in 2018, the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera is a two-door grand tourer available as a coupe or convertible. Power is drawn from a twin-turbocharged V12 engine which displaces 5.2 liters to produce 715 hp and 663 lb-ft of twist.
Driving the rear wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission, it shoots the car to 62 mph in 3.6 seconds and the quarter-mile in about 11 seconds. The Porsche Taycan Turbo S achieves the same feat in 2.6 seconds and 10.5 seconds, respectively.
1 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray
The eighth-generation Chevrolet Corvette debuted in the 2020 model year and drew motivation from a 6.2-liter V8 engine. From its place behind the driver, it cranks out 490 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque through an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic.
With the Z51 performance package, it accelerates to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds and hits the quarter-mile in 11.2 seconds at 122 mph. Impressive numbers which the Taycan Turbo S obliterates easily, thanks to an excellent power to weight ratio.
