We’re sorry to say it, but not all sports cars are beautiful.

The 2000s were a strange time for everyone, and car companies are no different. With the world moving away from MySpace and dial-up to faster and faster internet and sports cars, customers were changing the way they viewed hot-rods and the technology that comes with them. While saying that, it felt like certain car companies were trying too hard to impress a generation they clearly didn't understand. But for every ugo'mobile on this list, there are some that are truly stunning hyper-cars that we could look at all day and night. The majority of the cars listed as the worst looking sports cars aren't exactly hideous (most of them anyway), but they landed on this list because they tried to be a car company that fit in, instead of staying true to their personality and brand that we always loved. Usually, you can depend on the companies like Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Porsche to give us sports cars we would die to drive, but hey, no one's perfect, and everyone makes poor style choices. And that's alright, sometimes it takes a few ugly ducklings to get the perfect swan-car.

But like Italian supermodels, sports cars need to have beauty, grace, and speed (okay so not exactly like Italian supermodels), but for every "bellezza," there were some real "bruttas" on this list. In saying that, let’s get started shall we? Here are the top 10 best and worst looking sports cars of the 2000s. For the best looking sports cars we say “That’s Hot,” and for the worst looking sports cars we say “You are the weakest link. Goodbye.”

20 WORST: 2001 Porsche Ruf RGT

via RM Sotheby's

The 2001 Porsche Ruf RGT in our opinion, is somewhat “ruf” looking. (See what we did there?) When you picture yourself driving a Porsche, you image fast corners and speeding past your competition, but sadly, the Porsche Ruf RGT reminds us more of a street racer car from Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift, and not one of the cool ones you wanted to drive. This body style, to say the least, isn’t our favorite and rightfully deserves to be on the worst looking sports cars of the 2000s. Even though it’s a Porsche, we still wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot antenna.

19 WORST: 2002 Acura NSX

via YouTube

To be fair, Acura isn’t exactly known for their sports cars. Obviously, it takes a few attempts and years to cook-up the perfect sports car, but this one still needs a few years to cool in the oven.

The 2002 Acura NSX reminds us more of the first car a kid would buy if they saved up their newspaper cheques.

Sports cars need to bring style, luxury, and speed, and this isn’t very fast, glamorous, or stylish. Priced around $89,000, the 2002 Acura NSX is as good looking as a pig in a beauty pageant and didn't win any blue ribbons.

18 WORST: 2003 Maserati Spyder GT Convertible

via ZombieDrive

The 2003 Maserati Spyder GT Convertible is the ultimate plain-jane of sports cars. Normally, Maserati is known for this luxury, look, and style, but this vehicle feels like it’s missing the bells and whistles (and excitement) we always look for in hyper-cars. When looking at the Spyder GT Convertible, it feels like the minivan version of sports cars - it has a round body style where it needs edges, more comfortable than exciting, and probably the car your local soccer mom would think is “super hip.” Price at $89,662, this Maserati is a Spyder we would like to see squashed.

17 WORST: 2005 Morgan Aero 8

via Wikimedia Commons

Now, before we go spitting on a car that people may be a fan of, let’s get one thing clear - I see where they’re going with this, and I appreciate the gesture, but it feels like they missed the nail on the nose (very big nose) for this one.

The 2005 Morgan Aero 8 is an oddity, to say the least.

With a unique-looking snout that we nicknamed as “quiet the honker” and strange body frame, this car definitely deserves its spot on our list of worst looking sports cars of the 2000s. Even though this is the first car Morgan has released in over 50 years, we think it needs a nose-job before it’s next appearance.

16 WORST: 2005 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti

via Ed Bolian

Ferrari: Fast, sleek, and top of the line. All these words are usually the case for Ferrari, but we’re making an exception for the 2005 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti. Some might argue that this car doesn’t deserve to be on this list, but if we are comparing the Scaglietti to the other Ferraris of the 2000s, this is as ugly as a mud fence on a summer day. We can’t imagine a poster of this hot-rod hanging up in any kids room, let alone having all their friends over without them getting teased. Priced around $163,000, the 2005 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti proves that just because it’s a Ferrari, doesn’t mean it’s fierce.

15 WORST: 2006 Bugatti Veyron 16.4

via YouTube

The 2006 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 is an irregular ride, to say the least, but its style feels more like the hot wheels car you didn’t want than the sports car you always wanted. Now don’t get us wrong, we understand that this car was built more for speed and aerodynamics than style, but for the everyday driver this is as ugly as a 10-mile dirt road, and would probably drive on it just as much. Priced at $1.4 Million, this car has a lot of cylinders crammed under its bonnet, but we’re keeping it on this end of our list.

14 WORST: 2006 Dodge Viper SRT10 Coupe

via YouTube

The 2006 Dodge Viper SRT10 Coupe is one of the worst of the worst looking cars on this list. With its Mazda Miata shape and two-stripes down the middle, the Viper SRT10 Coupe feels like the car your rich high school friends dad would buy for their graduation present. Even though some may argue the Dodge Viper SRT10 doesn't deserve to be on the worst list, we think this is the sports car for boys instead of men. Priced around $83,000, the 2006 Dodge Viper SRT10 Coupe is as ugly as a snake in your boot, and is definitely one of the worst looking sports cars of the 2000s.

13 WORST: 2008 Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione

via Mecum Auctions

The 2008 Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione isn’t a completely ugly car, but like the Bugatti Veyron, its round and odd shape is why it landed itself on this list. Alfa Romeo is known for it’s round and denoted features, but this ride is the perfect example of when sharp would have looked so much better than curved. Don’t get us wrong, this would make for the most rad bumper car at the county fair, but if we're going to spend $301,600 on a sports car, we're going to pick the car with edges for days - not the one that looks like the balloon animal equivalent of sports cars.

12 WORST: 2008 Porsche GT3RS

via YouTube

When it comes to bad-looking cars, the 2008 Porsche GT3RS takes the pancake and flops tremendously. When someone shops for a Porsche, they imagine themselves cruising in a beautiful machine with a pristine polish, but the Porsche GT3RS looks like the designers took their VW Bug, gave it an at-home front-fender job and a cardboard back fin, and put their friends logo on the side of it in the “sickest” font they could find. There’s a lot of rough looking sports cars on this list, but the 2008 Porsche GT3RS is probably the worst for turning a gorgeous car into the most expensive car at a demolition derby.

11 WORST: 2009 Rossion Q1

Rossion Q1
via Pinterest

The 2009 Rossion Q1 is no QT, which is sad to see it on this list because Rossion has had some beautiful sports cars in its past.

We’re imagining that when this car was designed, one of the members of Rossion let their youngest child design this car and they put it into production.

It appears exactly how someone might imagine how a sports car would look, but without any of the personality of a Lamborghini or Koenigsegg. Even though the 2009 Rossion Q1 is reasonably priced at $76,400, we’re going to write this one off as a “see you l8ter”.

10 BEST: 2001 Lamborghini Diablo 6.0

via reddit

When it comes to the Lamborghini Diablo, 2001 one was arguably it’s most devilishly handsome year. Not only was it a high-powered four-wheel-drive beast of the streets, but it had the 80’s vibe and body style that reminds us all why we love Lamborghini’s so much (and it's V-12 engine). We personally think if you’re going to drive the devil itself, you might as well rock it in red, and the Lamborghini Diablo proved just that. Priced at $274,900 today, this mean-machine was one of the best looking cars of the 2000s, and very well deserves to be on this list.

9 BEST: 2004 Koenigsegg CCR

via Koenigsegg

Next time you think of "extreme," I want you to think of the 2004 Koenigsegg CCR. Compared to the CC8S, The CCR had an upgraded body design and style, giving it a faster-feel and competitive hypercar edge.

The 2004 CCR had a much larger front splitter, rear wings, enlarged tires, and upgraded suspension.

Not only is this car a knockout, but it was also once held the Guinness record for the world's fastest production car at the Nardo test track in Italy. The 2004 Koenigsegg CCR is priced at $650,000 and truly one of the best looking sports cars of its year.

8 BEST: Mercedes-Benz SLR Mclaren

via YouTube

The 2005 Mercedes-Benz SLR Mclaren might be the sexiest car on this list. It’s smooth, lightweight, and the perfect example of luxury-racing for anyone looking to drive mean, while looking clean. The inside interior of the 2005 SLR Mclaren has an industrial, yet fresh look of carbon-fiber seat shells covered in fine leather, while the engine is a 5.4-liter V-8 rush of momentum. There were mixed reviews to the 2005 Mclaren style at first, but the positive response by likely buyers now suggests that every model will find a garage to call home (unless Bruce Wayne buys it first).

7 BEST: 2005 Ford GT

via YouTube

The 2005 Ford GT set the supercar world on the edge of their seats with its supercharged 550 horsepower V-8 (a whopping 205 miles per hour top speed) and super-characteristic body style.

This muscle car meets sports car has an aluminum frame chassis and aluminum body, along with its modern lightweight interior.

The 2005 Ford GT is reasonably priced at $149,995 and will forever remain among the best-looking and most memorable cars on this list and in the Ford family. Also, they are somewhat rarities to come by since Ford produced just over 2,000 of them in 2005.

6 BEST: 2006 Aston Martin V-8 Vantage

via My Car Quest

When we think of the 2006 Aston Martin V-8 Vantage, "good-looking" doesn't give it justice. It's easy to imagine yourself pulling up to a European driveway on top of a beautiful mountainside, ready to meet friends, chat art and castles, and drink martinis. Also, the most interesting fact about this special 007 favorite is it's also the first Aston Martin to arrive in the US and is the least expensive Aston of modern times. It boasts a compact 5.9-liter V-12 and was priced at about $120,000, and undeniably deserves a spot on this list. (Warning: does not come with laser watch or bond girl.)

5 BEST: 2007 Koenigsegg CCX

via Top Speed

Koenigsegg was founded in 1994 with the fully-realized goal to produce a world-class supercar, and 13 years later they unveiled one of our absolute favorite cars on this list: the 2007 Koenigsegg CCX.

Originally inspired by the McLaren 41 and Ferrari F40, this car not only stood among the rest, but it became well known as one of the first "state-of-the-art supercars."

Now that we’ve sold you on the 2007 Koenigsegg CCX, I'm sorry to inform you that you may have a difficult time owning one since only 30 were ever made and they’re priced close to $2.5 Million.

4 BEST: 2007 Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera

via YouTube

The 2007 Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera is Italian style meets Italian muscle all rolled into one super-Italian roadster. In English, Superleggera means "superlight", which means the frame is leaned out and the majority of its weight is in the engine (5.0-liter V-10 to be exact).

This superlight hyper-car roars 0 to 60 miles per hour in 3.8 seconds, making it one of the fastest (and best looking) sports cars of the 2000s. Priced at $184,895, the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera is a "one of a kind" and deserves to be on this list as one of the best looking sports cars of the 2000s and of all time.

3 BEST: 2007 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano

via RM Sotheby's

The 2007 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano is the ultimate roadster for the driver who wants something fine and fast. Originally designed for the racetrack, the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano took to the streets with its 5.99-liter V-12 engine with efficiency and style. This unique body style for the Fiorano reminds us more of the Aston Martin than Ferrari, but this change in pace bodes well for the brand and model. Priced at $190,000 today, the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano brought a luxury touch of style to 2007, and ultimately a favorite look for sports cars of the 2000s.

2 BEST: 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG

2009 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG
via Supercars.net

The 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG isn't often thought of as one of the best-looking sports cars, but while we researched this vehicle we decided it should not be overlooked. The most genuine word to describe the 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG is "sleek" and even that still doesn't give it enough credit. It's SOHC 6.0-liter twin-turbo V-12 speeds off the starting line and turns heads everywhere it's driven. Priced up to $209,800, this vehicle is the smooth ride that surprises any passenger, and not only deserves a spot on this list, but it also deserves to be polished in someone's driveway.

1 BEST: 2003 Ferrari Enzo

via Autoblog

When it comes to the 2003 Ferrari Enzo, Johnny Cash said it best: "Hey, good lookin', Whatcha got cookin'?" It's jaw-dropping performance and undeniable style gives this car an F1 flair, while its suicide side-doors brings the style. Ferrari has always been known to bring the technology and ultimate speed with any of its cars, and the 2003 Enzo is right on beat. Priced up from $2.5 Million, this hot-rod has us hitting ourselves for a glance and is easily one of the best-looking rides of 2003, and an ultimate favorite for best looking cars of the 2000s.
