Brooks Weisblat of DragTimes produces some of the best drag racing content there is on YouTube. Brooks has his own epic fleet of cars as well as going out to see cars that his friends have. With that in mind, seeing them face off against various rivals is why the channel is so popular. In this video, Weisblat is bringing together two 1,000 hp cars in the form of the Tesla Model X and the Ferrari SF90 to see whether 1,000 hp in gasoline or electric form is the best.

Getting To Know The Two Cars

Before the racing starts, let's explore how these two cars go about making their power. When it comes to the Ferrari SF90 Stradale, it generates 986 hp from a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, plus three electric motors, which makes this a hybrid Ferrari. When it comes to the weight, the car weighs at around 3,920 lbs. The Tesla Model X meanwhile generates 1,020 hp which is a little more than the Ferrari. The powerful EV achieves this thanks to its trimotor setup. However, it weighs a lot more than the Ferrari. The Tesla weighs 5,333 lbs so that may hinder it in the races.

Onto the races, then. The two cars line up for the first drag race and off the line it is quite an even start for both cars. As they accelerate, the Tesla more than holds its own against the Ferrari but the SF90 takes the first victory. It is a bit of a surprise the Tesla didn’t get the initial jump on the Ferrari but it kept pace with the Italian supercar quite nicely. The Model X got up to 141.74 mph and did the 1/4 mile in 9.817 seconds, versus the 9.631 seconds and 144.69 mph of the Ferrari.

There are three races in total between the two cars. Race two starts off well for the Tesla which gets the initial jump and the Ferrari slowly closes but can’t pass it in time. So it was the Tesla Model X with a 9.893 second pass time at 141.42 mph, versus 9.615 and 144.83 mph for the SF90. But, the Model X reached the finish line first. Entering into the last race, this time the Ferrari jumps to a clear lead and out drags the Tesla all the way. It is 9.858 seconds and 141.67 mph for the Model X versus the 9.621 second pass and 144.81 mph for the SF90. Although the Tesla had a good showing, the Ferrari takes the overall win.
