Anyone who has played Grand Theft Auto before (any of them) will know just how silly some missions, characters, and cars can be. And that's part of why people love the game. Sure, you can take your aggression out by shooting up a ton of things, or you can go joyriding in whatever sports car you want, but there is an element of complete farce that makes the GTA franchise absolutely bonkers. And that is what makes it the most appealing. GTA has a ton of vehicles with some pretty unreal feel over the years.

Updated January 2022: A look back on the GTA franchise reveals some crazy and cool cars. The ability to drive a wide variety of vehicles ranging from silly lawn mowers to huge blimps makes wasting hours playing the games too easy! We've updated this article to better reflect the collection of silly (and cool) cars that players can drive in GTA!

GTA offers both some of the coolest cars, and some of the zaniest. We think that cars such as the Space Docker reach through what is practical and makes for something funny. On the other hand, cars like the Infernus Classic take inspiration from real-world counterparts that make them a blast to drive. GTA is all about pushing the boundaries on what is appropriate, and what gets good laughs and high sales!

25 Silly - Zebra Cab

GTA ZebraCab
Via YouTube.com

A zebra cab? Ok. We're not quite sure where to start with this one. So we would forgive the checkered cab, but why would anyone even think of putting zebra stripes on a cab? And bad ones at that! It looks like a pimp-mobile straight out of the 1970s with fuzzy features. The only things that are missing are the fluffy dice hanging from the mirror, some nice shiny hubcaps, and the driver wearing a hat with a feather on it. It just looks silly.

We certain it's fun to drive because it's not like anyone would ever really worry about crashing it unless in a mission. Still, come on Rockstar. As silly goes, it sets the tone for the GTA series. There really isn't a limit to how crazy this universe gets.

24 Cool - Tezeract

GTA Tezeract
Via GTAWiki

First, the name Tezeract. It makes us think about The Avengers. Second, this is a pretty dynamite-looking supercar. There is something about the way that Grand Theft Auto V really took on the cars in the game that is just breathtaking. The detail and the designs are awesome. It doesn't hurt that a lot of the car designs for the game were clearly taken from some real-life cars. Additionally, it was the GTA attempt of at least bringing some reality to the game.

You can still do all the silly things you want to do while you're playing, and this car has some pretty cool upgrades. Plus, they will remind you of some pretty realistic cars as well.

For example, the Tezeract happens to be pretty heavily based on the Lamborghini Terzo Millennio. It pulls from elsewhere also, but we're sure you could see shades of a Lambo in the design of this car. It's pretty spot-on, too. And why not show appreciation to some real special cars? Sure, there have always been some references or a basis in reality but GTA V really takes the prize for doing this effectively with the Tezeract.

23 Silly - The Bifta

Bifta GTA Via GTA Fandom
Via GTA Fandom

This lightweight dune buggy can be purchased for $75,000 in GTA Online and is also the feature dune buggy in the "beach bum" update. With unusual rounded body styling and aggressive roll cage design, the BIfta is made for off-road fun.

The Bifta is one of the silliest looking off-road vehicles available in GTA. Despite the silliness, it performs quite well in off-road situations. It has reasonable control in high-speed conditions but can lose some stability on bumpy terrain as it nears top speed. The Bifta looks like a clown car, and clowning around is the best way to use this car!

22 Cool - Taipan

GTA Taipan
Via GTAWiki.com

This is a pretty sexy car from the GTA universe. Like most of the hot cars in the game, it is heavily based on something from real life. The Taipan is actually a sort of mixture of several cars, as it happens. The brunt of the car design is pulled from what is now known as the 3rd fastest street-legal car in the world, the Hennessey Venom F5. Now, that is a pretty sweet machine.

But we did say that the Taipan is a mixture of several cars. You may notice that the front end of the car more closely resembles a Ford GT.

And in addition to those two beautiful cars giving the Taipan life, some rear design is based on the McLaren P1. It's the nice thing about the GTA universe, there are vehicles that are fantastic mash-ups of cars that will never exist, yet we still get the chance to experience them!

21 Silly - Space Docker

GTA Space Docker
Via GTAWiki.com

The Space Docker is a silly collection of pieces. It resembles a highly modified Dune Buggy, and featuring a collection of junk materials, it has a unique design that can't quite be explained. Despite the odd looks, the Space Docker has an interesting blue filament that wraps the frame and adds a bit of cool into the design.

This silly car has some pretty cool features to it. The Space Docker features a similar handling to the Dune Buggy, but with an antigravity thruster component that allows for brief bits of flight. Though not indestructible, the Space Docker is able to handle slightly more damage than a standard Dune Buggy, which comes in handy during some missions!

20 Cool - Sabre TurboGTA Sabre Turbo

The Sabre Turbo! This is a blast from the past. This is one of the cars that might be considered a classic now in the wide world of GTA, if for no other reason than that it was one of the frequently appearing cars in GTA Vice City. It was a pretty good-looking car, as you can tell, but it had absolutely horrible handling.

You could get used to it and use the handbrake to your advantage when maneuvering corners so that you didn't have to think about how easy it otherwise is to crash the bloody thing, but it wasn't always easy.

Based on some good ol' fashioned American Muscle, the Sabre Turbo is heavily influenced by the 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass. Additionally, it also has shades of other cars as well, such as the Chevelle SS, The Chevy Malibu, and the Buick GSX. There are even further details that get right down to the paint job and the headlights too. Bits and pieces are taken from a Mustang Mach 1 and a Pontiac Firebird as well.

19 Silly - Rat Loader

GTA Rat Loader
Via GTAWiki.com

Well, this is called the Rat Loader. Why it's called the Rat Loader? We have absolutely no idea. We're going to assume that some redneck hunts rats with this truck or at least gets to his destination with this truck, hunts, then loads those rats onto the flatbed. It is based on a 1939 Chevrolet Pickup Truck, and it has got a lot of work that needs doing to it. It's kind of ridiculous in almost every single way.

It's a very shady drive, as it doesn't handle well. It can only take a few bumps before the wheels lock up. The saving grace for the Rat Loader is the customizability. Taking what amounts to a beater and turning it into a hot rod truck takes some doing, but worth it when everything is said and done!

18 Cool - Insurgent Pickup

GTA Insurgent Pick Up
Via GTAWiki.com

The official description of the Insurgent Pickup suggests a dictatorship rule, but with armored siding and a machine gun, we think it's one of the coolest! It might not be as well-suited to carry people in it as the standard version pick up, simply because this is the pick up version leaves people in the bed exposed.

That being said, this version comes with a cannon and that's pretty definitive in a fight. This particular piece of light armored car is heavily based on the Terradyne armored vehicles. But Terradyne is actually a Canadian company, and will sell to tactical police forces, and even important civilians!

17 Silly - Principe Faggio

GTA Principe Faggio
Via GTAWiki.com

The infamous Faggio has appeared in every GTA game since Vice City. Meant to parody the Vespa, the Principe Faggio is a simple scooter that has remained virtually unchanged in every entry. This silly scooter features a zebra print seat, and funny enough is the best "motorcycle" to do long wheelies.

In addition to the silly nature of the Faggio, GTA Online will spawn a player who is killed during a mission on one. This is presumably to humiliate the player and in-game character. Regardless, the Principe Faggio is one of the silliest vehicles players can drive in GTA.

16 Cool - Infernus Classic

GTA Infernus Classic
Via GTAWiki.com

According to Legendary Motorsport, "Experience tells you that anything this hot must be crazy, and you're not wrong. The Infernus Classic is the kind of car that'll dazzle you with its perfect cheekbones, empty your bank account, and once you're sleeping in the wet patch it'll finish you off with a rusty machete. What's not to love?"

Instead, the biggest design influence for the Infernus classic is actually the Lamborghini Diablo. The Diablo shares a heavy reference to a Lambo, such as the Aventador and Countach. This iconic car looks cool and is a ton of fun to drive around, and as the description suggests, costs a fortune!

15 Silly - Mr. Whoopee

GTA Mr.Whoopee Van
Via YouTube.com

Another silly car that makes an appearance in several GTA games is the Mr. Whoopee Van. Featuring a distinctly Chevy Step Van style, the Mr. Whoopee Van is a box truck that suggests delivering ice cream and other frozen treats. The silliness of the van comes from the myriad of suggestive double entendres.

Featuring a silly jingle that plays when the horn is pressed, the Mr. Whoopee Van doesn't have any other notable abilities. Additionally, handling is poor at best, and braking is near impossible due to the large size. Strangely, in GTA III the Mr. Whoopee Van takes no damage, making it a good vehicle for missions that involve enemies firing at the player!

14 Cool - Hermes

GTA Hermes
Via GTAWiki.com

The Hermes is a classic 1940s stylized Coupe. Hermes is another cool car that appears in multiple games across the franchise. It takes styling from the Hudson Hornet, as well as the Mercury Eight. The hood is long compared to the body, and the driver is well hidden.

Driving the Hermes is average. The acceleration is a tad slow, but the top speed is decent. Additionally, the Hermes can't be blown up with a shot to the gas tank and features a front-wheel drive layout. The Hermes features some of the worst brakes in the GTA universe, but in the hands of an expert, it can be a great drifting car.

13 Silly - Airtug

Via GTA Fandom

Some ridiculous vehicles can be driven in the GTA series. Among the silliest is the Airtug. The Airtug can be found at the Los Santos International Airport in GTA V and at various other airports throughout the series, although under different visages.

The Airtug is based on the Clark CT30 and is a low-power airline tug. Additionally, the Airtug can seat two and is able to fit into tight spaces, providing some utility. Despite the utility, the Airtug has poor performance and is one of the slowest vehicles in GTA. Although, the acceleration and corning aren't too bad.

12 Cool - F620

GTA F620
Via GTAWiki.com

The F620 is a luxury gran tourer car that is available in GTA Online. It exists as a cross between the Maserati GranTurismo and the Jaguar XK. The F620 is classified as a coupe in-game, however, it performs in a sporty manner and is one of the fastest in its class.

The F620 is an example that there can be affordable sports cars within the GTA universe. Despite some poor handling at high speeds, the F620 accelerates quickly and has a solid top speed. It's perfect for racing or as a getaway vehicle!

11 Silly - Police Prison Bus

Police Prison Bus Via GTA Fandom
Via GTA Fandom

It's a bit ironic that, in a game that highlights crime, a Prison Bus is an option to drive. This silly bus is faster than a standard bus, and it also features some heavy armoring. Barred windows join fake back doors, making the only entry point the set of doors up front.

For a vehicle of its size, the Police Prison Bus performs quite well on uneven ground and in some off-road conditions. Further, the power and AWD allow the Prison Bus to push smaller, lighter cars out of the way. Although there is some utility, the Police Prison Bus is armored, making acceleration slow, yet it still is one of the silliest cars players can drive!

10 Cool - Elegy RH8

GTA Elegy RH8
Via GTAWiki.com

"Born in the fires of Mt. Fuji and tested on some German toll road, you can finally legally own this legendary supercar without the fear of having your door kicked in by the FIB because they'd rather crush import cars than catch terrorists." Somehow, we have the faintest feeling that Rockstar sometimes gets a little political when it comes to how they describe their cars. We think it's hilarious that the game rails on about import issues through something as simple as the description of a car. It's the interesting and clever thing about the GTA franchise.

You might think it's all silly and pointless violence, but there are quite a few points made. This particular set of wheels draws heavily from the designs of the Nissan GT-R. And that's not it. It also draws from the Infiniti G37 and the Nissan Skyline as well.

That is an interesting mix-up of cars in order to come up with the Elegy. We can definitely see the GT-R quality of this car, especially with the decent top speed, good acceleration, and AWD system.

9 Silly - BF Ramp Buggy

GTA BF Ramp Buggy
GTAWiki.com

"Ever looked at a city-center traffic jam and seen nothing but a long, glorious opportunity? It doesn't have to be a dream: with BF's Ramp Buggy, yesterday's gridlock becomes today's meteor shower in your rearview mirror. Note, the production model of this vehicle has reduced armor plating." Well, at least they warn you that there really is no armor to this little buggy that is meant for nothing else than to be used as a ramp for cars to jump from.

The low ride makes the Ramp Buggy easy to slip under cars providing the ability to launch vehicles. Though the armor is generally reduced, head on impacts are reinforced to account for the collisions that the Ramp buggy will undoubtedly go through!

8 Cool - Duke O'Death

GTA Duke O' Death
Via GTAWiki.com

"It's not always clear whether your average uranium-eating survivalist is planning for the world to end, or planning to end it personally. And why not keep those options open with this special edition Duke's muscle car? Sure, it has the fuel consumption of an aircraft carrier in a headwind, but when the nukes start falling you and the cockroaches are going to have a blast." This is perhaps one of our very favorite descriptions to come out of the auto sector of the GTA universe.

What we love most about this car is that it seems like something from Mad Max. And maybe that was the point. The description does mention the world's end and being a survivalist.

And there are only two things you need to survive in Mad Max: petrol and water. Additionally, we love the supercharger on this machine and considering that it's heavily based on the 1968-1970 Dodge Charger, it is definitely right up our alley. This mash-up couldn't exist in real-life, so the virtual world will have to do!

7 Silly - BF Injection

GTA BF Injection
Via GTAWiki.com

"Super reinforced shocks - perfect for cushioning when you are jumping sand dunes and landing with such ferocity that you bite your tongue in two." Alright, that is a pretty tame description for what is actually a very ridiculous car. And while it hasn't got much to do with the design, After all, the BF Injection is mostly designed after the Meyers Manx, the body kit for the old Beetle. And we're sure its impossible to miss the Beetle design here right away.

The BF Injection hasn't always been the same in every game. In Vice City, it is not heavily based on a VW Beetle at all. Though the GTA V version sees the VW inspiration, the BF Injection is one silly off-road vehicle that exists in the GTA universe.

6 Cool - Dominator GTX

GTA Dominator GTX
Via GTAWiki.com

"Step one: take the best-looking muscle car the 60's ever saw, and introduce it to the greatest American supercar of the modern era. Step two: leave them alone in a quiet garage with a few dozen shots of high octane gas, plenty of axle grease, and nothing else to do. Step three: the Dominator GTX is born, and it's hungry. When your pedigree is this damn good, there's nothing wrong with keeping it in the family." We love this description mainly because it focuses on the fact that this car is a real muscle car forged by three great muscle cars...even if it does make that quip about "keeping it in the family."

This car was actually based on three very well-known and very classic muscle cars. The first and foremost would be the Ford Mustang. You can tell this from the side and top elements. The Dodge Charger is up next to that which you can see thanks to the front face of the car. The front-end intakes of the car, however, are pulled from a bit of influence from the Chevy Camaro. Three of perhaps the best-known and longest-running muscle cars jammed into one. What better way to experience all three than in a virtual mash-up?
