To everyone who says that a manual transmission is better than an automatic, Eric Fox's Chevy Corvette would like a word with you. Eric Fox brought his newly modified C5 Corvette to the I29 Dragway in Iowa for 1320Video's Ice Cream Cruise. Fox's Procharged supercharged 427 LSX equipped 'Vette fitted with a 2 speed Powerglide gearbox and Holley Dominator had one thing in mind: absolutely destroying the competition in the 1/8th mile drag strip.

Fox's goal for the night was to win for a second night in a row running at what he jokingly called double the output from before. Fox also said that "trying to figure out how to get all that power down" is the biggest problem. The biggest change was the Holley Dominator as opposed to the GM stock computer because now he can "put power down where he wants to".

Flying Down The Strip

The first run down the track against a modified Subaru WRX went off unexpectedly with Fox saying "we thought the track wasn't there at all". This run was still faster than the Subaru, but as the night progressed, Fox continued to impress with each run down the strip. During his run against a very heavily modified Honda S2000, Fox got to flex the new muscle in his car, running a 5.55 second run against the Honda's 6.25 seconds.

Fox's run against a foxbody Mustang is when the fruits of his labor came forward. Fox pulled a massive win over the Mustang at 148 miles per hour for a time of 5.21 seconds. "I could feel that traction control working, I'm in love with that sh*t" said Fox after trapping more than 30 miles per hour faster than the Mustang.

Grudge Match

During his final race of the night against Tom Dixon's Nash, the Corvette came through yet again. Fox had assumed it would be similar to their race three years prior when they were bumper-to-bumper at the finish line. However, this time Fox's Corvette was a different animal entirely. Down the track this time, Fox stayed nearly an entire car length ahead of the Nash and crossed the line at 5.23 seconds versus 5.66 seconds.
