When a car reaches the end of its life, there is only one thing that will happen. And that is it will be dumped to rust away for good. And that’s sad, isn’t it? Despite a car reaching an end of its life, it is never nice to see one just vanish from existence after serving what is usually a long and useful life.

Even more so if the car is a cool one, a classic, or just one you loved. There are some really cool cars just lying around in junkyards all over the world. So many of them too. These range from Oldsmobiles, more domestic cars, to even Ferrari’s, sat around doing nothing for all these years.

This list contains some cars that used to be very cool, and quite pretty. But sadly, they are no longer that. They are just mere relics of what they used to be, and they are very sad indeed.

15 Old-Timers

I don’t think that there is anything sadder than just seeing a load of classic cars sat around in a junkyard, gathering dust and rusting away. I’m not sure what these cars were, but they have clearly seen better days. Cars like this should have been restored to run or go into a museum years ago.

14 Oldsmobile 442

via Barn Finds

The Oldsmobile 442 was a very solid muscle car, and if you can find one now you are going to get yourself quite the classic. But this one? Well, it doesn’t look like it’s going to do any muscling anytime soon. The tires are all flat and who knows how long it has been sat outside for.

13 A ton of sports cars

I didn’t think there was anything sadder than seeing a load of classic cars rusting away. But this makes me feel just as sad. There are some quite nice sports cars tucked away in this junkyard, and it is a shame to see so many cars just sat around doing nothing, and slowly vanishing from this earth.

12 Fiat 124

The Fiat 124 is a lovely little Italian car and was rather pretty. Most Fiat’s are very pretty, and Italian cars, in general, have good looks. But they can often be susceptible to rust, and this one certainly has been after being left in this junkyard. It makes me sad to see a nice little car like this rusting away.

11 A Muscle Classic

Forgive my ignorance, but I sadly do not know what this car is. What I do know though is that I love muscle cars. They are some of my favorite machines, so seeing one sat here dumped and rusting away makes me very sad indeed. It isn’t beyond salvage though, if anyone knows where it is.

10 Is That A Lancia?

This looks like a Lancia. And it is a Lancia. And this makes me incredibly sad. Lancia’s are wonderful cars, although they didn’t always behave that way. So to see one rusting away, among a few American classics, makes my heart bleed. I could never let that happen to a Lancia, be it a Stratos or something more mundane.

9 Luxury In Dubai

via Gabdig

Please do correct me if I am wrong, but I think this is a Honda NSX? If so then why has it been left like this? This has been found in Dubai, where a few exotic cars have been left to gather dust. It is by no means totally gone, and I can only hope that someone has been able to do something about it.

8 Dodge Neon Sport

This is a 1999 Dodge Neon Sport, and it has clearly very much seen better days. Not the most spectacular car on this list, but still sad to see it looking so unloved and it’s driving days probably over. Who knows, perhaps it could be easily salvaged? It is probably missing it’s engine though.

7 Ferrari 308

There is something quite sad about seeing a rusting, dumped Ferrari. Quite possibly some of the world's most beautiful cars have come from Ferrari, and I really don’t like what I am seeing here. It makes me wonder how someone could do this to a Ferrari? Surely it would be much better to be sent to a museum?

6 Abandoned NASCAR

This is just as sad as seeing an abandoned Ferrari. NASCAR’s are machines worthy of preserving. They are driven by some of the fastest men and women on the planet, so you’d have thought they’d be looked after. Not here though sadly, as these have clearly seen better days and will certainly not race again.

5 Subaru XT6

I don’t know too much about the Subaru XT6 if I am honest, but I am a big fan of Subarus in general. That mostly comes from how I loved seeing the likes of Colin McCrae throwing them around in the World Rally Championship. So to see this one in this state doesn’t make me happy at all.

4 NASCAR’s Of The Earnhardt Estate

via Sporting News

Dale Earnhardt Jr has his own personal NASCAR graveyard, full of some incredible NASCAR machines of the past. Like this #51 machine, Which has been reduced to little more than a frame. It isn’t sad though, as at least they are serving a purpose and adding some intrigue to the Earnhardt estate.

3 More Old Classics

Again, I can’t tell you what these are. But I can tell you they are in Old Car City. Over 4,000 classic cars decorate 32 acres of forest which have been turned into a junkyard museum. And they are a total mess. Bits of tree and nature have just fallen all over them, heck some might well have a tree growing from the bottom and destroying the rusting carcass of these cars.

2 A Poor Camaro

This is a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro, and my, oh my, it looks so sad. The Chevrolet Camaro is one of the best muscle cars to have existed, and the fact that it is still in production today is an indicator of that success. I just want to go and snap it up and restore it to its former glory.

1 Sports Car Grave Yard

Here is another mass graveyard of cars, all sorts of machines from what looks like varying decades and years. Quite surprising to see how many are actually littered here, but I do wonder what might become of them? Probably not a lot sadly, they are probably still sat there slowly fading from time.
