A sports car can be compared to a work of art; meant to be enjoyed and admired from every angle. Unfortunately, the same sleek and elegant design that allows sports cars to attract attention also exposes them to all kinds of risk when parked in the open, not the least of which is vandalism.

Cars can be vandalized in a myriad of ways; from having the paintwork scratched to windows being smashed in. In more extreme cases, parts of the car may be stolen or so badly damaged that the entire vehicle is rendered unusable. Sports car owners usually have to pay heavy premiums to the few insurance companies that agree to cover this risk.

Vandalism is a crime with huge cost implications. In the UK alone, a recent study showed that vandalism alone sets car owners back about 2 Billion British Pounds annually.

Here are 15 pictures of vandalized sports cars that are sure to make even the most casual car enthusiast cringe with horror.

The Avio is the first limited edition of the Lamborghini Huracan; with only 250 examples made. There are 5 distinct colors available for the model. This one is finished in Verde Turbine. We can only speculate what the owner might have done that warranted this horrendous treatment to a piece of automotive art. Maybe he just parked in the wrong spot.

via LSX Magazine

This eighth-generation Chevrolet Corvette only made its official debut in July 2019. Mainstream customer deliveries have not even started and this one has already fallen victim to thieves. At least, they were kind enough to leave the car mounted on blocks, and according to Motortrend, they even left the lug nuts on the ground!

13 Lamborghini Aventador S

There’s simply no rational explanation that we can come up with for this other than the fact that a very wealthy young lad ran out of things to do and got bored. Why else would one tastelessly spray the words ‘cash only’ on the side of his brightly colored V12 powerhouse? That’s Justin Bieber's car by the way.

According to the background story, the car rental operator rented out some of his supercars. However, he was forced to remotely immobilize them when he discovered the cars were being driven in an unsafe manner. Apparently, the customers did not take kindly to this and returned to vent their displeasure, smashing up several cars, including this 458 Italia.

A UK dealership offered about $26,000 reward for information that could help them apprehend the vandal who smashed in the windscreen of this 1,000bhp hypercar. The car was parked in a swanky showroom that was somehow broken into during the night. We shudder at the thought of what the repair costs would be.

This car is nick-named, 'Godzilla' for good reason. It boasts over 500 bhp and with its clever all-wheel-drive, can do the 0-60 mph sprint in under 3 seconds. It does need a proper set of tires to be able to do that though; something this owner found out the hard way after leaving the car outside over-night in Long Island, New York.

9 Porsche Panamera

It is very hard to slip under the radar when your car is covered with a wrap as bright as the blue neon on this Porsche Panamera. It certainly caught the attention of some unscrupulous fellows who decided to add their own touch with a spray can and some white paint.

This supercar was named after Enzo Ferrari, the founder of the illustrious Italian carmaker, and has enjoyed legendary status from its inception. Ferrari only made 399, and less than 10 of them were black. All of that mattered little to a jealous chef who took out his anger on this exclusive example owned by a popular musician at the time.

7 Porsche 911 Turbo S

This flagship sportscar had its ‘shoes’ stripped in a brazen daylight operation at a hospital parking lot in Florida. Given that the new Turbo S comes with center-lock wheels as standard, it must have taken some ingenuity to take off the bolts; or maybe they just had the relevant specialized equipment. It’s such a shame, really.

The details of what happened here are quite sketchy. It looks like the cars were parked in a showroom that was broken into during a mob action of some kind. A few cars had their windscreens smashed in. Then there are those huge rocks on one of the more heavily damaged vehicles. Saddening.

The Gallardo remains one of the most successful Lamborghini models to date. Powered by a V10, it had a quirky charisma that somehow wormed its way into the hearts of countless car lovers. We don’t know why, but this example found its way into an art museum and people were invited to have at it with whatever sharp tools they had at hand. This was the result.

According to Dailymail, this was the third time in 16 months that this particular Bentley had been targeted solely for its wheels. The latest incident occurred as the car was parked outside in Chelsea, London. The owner had fitted special alloys wheels that cost about $6,500. Maybe he should skip that next time, or just move out of the area completely.

The owner of this car shared the pictures online, seeking help to find his missing tires. He parked outside one night and by the time he woke up in the morning, the car was sans wheels. It is safe to assume the tires did not just take off on their own. It is not known if social media publicity helped him in recovering them, though.
