13 1967 Chevrolet Corvette L88

Proving to be exceptionally rare, with only 20 models produced, the 1967 Corvette L88 is one of the most desirable Corvettes ever built. Built to be a true race track performance car, the L88 produced 560 horsepower with its V-8 engine. With prices upward of $3,000,000, the L88 is mainly reserved for the elite.

12 1969 Chevy Camaro ZL-1

With only 69 of these babies produced, they are sure to be on this list. Modeled after the Corvette L88, and made for racing, the 1969 Camaro ZL-1 is not to be messed with. While Chevy's factory rating was only 430 base horsepower, the 69' ZL-1 was actually producing over 500 base horsepower.

Furthermore, the 69' ZL-1 was the first production Chevy engine to have an aluminum block, making it weigh only 500 pounds. If you are looking to pick up one of these rare beauties, you better have a hefty wallet as they go for upward of half a million dollars.

11 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible

Selling at auctions between $2 to $3.5 million dollars, the 1970 Plymouth Cuda Convertible is one of the most expensive and rarest cars on this list. With only 14 convertibles built in 1970, they can prove to be very hard to find.

With their stylish looks and powerful performance, it's no wonder the 70' Cuda Convertible is as popular as it is among car collectors.

10 1967 Plymouth RO23 GX

With only 55 produced, the 1967 Plymouth GTX is one of the rarest Plymouth muscle cars. They shed weight by removing unnecessary carpet and insulation, and implemented a larger hood scoop to increase airflow - the 67' GTX could go 0 to 60 in 4.8 seconds.

This comes with no surprise as it is fitted with a 426 cubic inch Hemi engine, coming in at 500 pounds lighter than the base models. Currently, you can see prices upward of $100 thousand dollars to get your hands on one of these.

9 1969-1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429

The Ford Mustang Boss 429 was born to help qualify 500 of Ford's new racing engines for NASCAR. With a V-8 engine producing 375 horsepower, it put down some good power. Today, the Boss 429 is going upwards of $200,000 with only 1,356 production models between 1969 and 1970.

8 2018 Dodge Challenger Demon

But, with only 3,300 Demons produced, it could be a little tricky to get your hands on one. 7 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle 454 SS

Powered by a 454-cid V-8, the Chevelle 454 produced between 360 to 450 base horsepower, depending on the model. During its time, the Chevelle was on top of its class because its competitors had less in power. With 4,475 units produced, the Chevelle may be easier to find than some on this list, but with prices ranging upwards of $125 thousand dollars, you better have your finances ready.

6 1965 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray

5 1966 Shelby GT 350

Making 306 horsepower, powered by a 4.7L V-8, the Shelby GT 350 was respected on the road during its time. With 2,378 units produced,  you can expect to be paying $140 thousand and up for a GT 350 in good condition.

4 1970 Oldsmobile 442

Who would have thought an Oldsmobile would make this list? But producing 365 horsepower, 360 horsepower with the W-30 package, the 442 was not to be messed with. With good performance, spot-on handling, and stylish looks, the Oldsmobile 442 became a leader of the pack in its respected category. With many of the 442's produced, you can snag one for as low as $20 thousand dollars.

3 1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am

Making its fame in the movie "Smokey and the Bandit", as well as other movies along the way, the Pontiac Firebird Trans Am is sure to be on many car collectors lists. Powered by a 6.6 liter V-8, it made 180 horsepower, 220 horsepower for the top model.

While not a significant horsepower sports car, the Firebird Trans Am certainly makes up for it with its fame. With a modest number of production units made, you can find a 78' Firebird Trans Am in the $20 to $30 thousand dollar range.

2 1962 Shelby Cobra

Equipped with an aluminum body and a lightweight V-8 engine, the 62' Cobra weighed in at roughly 2,100 pounds, producing 260 horsepower. With only 75 Cobra's being built in 1962 and 1963 before the engine was replaced with Ford's 271 horsepower V-8, they are becoming increasingly rare. Prices of the 62' Cobra can vary between $600,000 - $1,000,000 varying on vehicle condition.

1 1972 Buick GSX

With only 44 of these built in 1972, the Buick GSX is exceptionally rare. Under the hood, there were 3 factory options, but the 455 cubic V-8 producing 250 horsepower is the rarest. With a good condition model, you can expect to pay $60 thousand and up to get your hands on the 72' GSX. But good luck finding one.
