It's hard enough to become famous or rich as is. Then, if you do somehow manage to achieve such a feat, you'd be inclined to believe that the rest would be nothing but 'smooth sailing.' For the most part, that's true, unless you're a Ferrari enthusiast.

Ferrari doesn't care if you have boatloads of cash, a sky-high ego, or really want their car. To them, their ownership (in part) doesn't end once they sell you the car. Even before then, there are multiple criteria one must meet to be let in the door. So, whether you're an unknown entrepreneur or a famous movie star, Ferrari will still put you through the wringer.

But what exactly do they test for? Well, that's what we're here to discuss, so (without further ado, here are fifteen rigorous rules celebrities must follow when getting a brand new Ferrari...

16 Background Checks For Everyone!

Via: Ferrari Portofino

Loan requests, weapon purchases, and jobs aren't the only things that require a background check. Funnily enough, Ferrari employs them frequently to vet their would-be owners. Ferrari does these checks for a lot of reasons, particularly to ensure that their customers can pay for (and respect) the car they're sold.

15 No Defacement

Via: Reddit

Those of you who have followed the Gumball 3000 rally for any amount of time probably remember the Deadmau5 scandal with Ferrari. After wrapping his 458 Spider in a Nyan Cat design, Ferrari ordered him to remove it; stating that it was defacement to a degree. This instance perfectly illustrates Ferrari's strict adherence to the rules. No shaming or embarrassing the prancing horse!

14 Get In Line, Buddy

Via: Motor1

When looking through Autotrader or Dupont Registry, it's easy to think that getting a high-end Ferrari is as simple as one-two-three. In reality, though, that's only for the used cars. If you want a brand new one, particularly those special editions, you'll have to get in line. Hopefully, you have some sway with the executives, because (if not) you might not get the chance.

13 Ferrari Approved Mechanics Only

Via: Motor1

This one should seem like a 'no brainer,' but it's important nonetheless. Ferrari too requires that you repair your cars at their shops, yet, it's not a matter of voiding a warranty, but of voiding your purchase agreement. Hard to imagine being denied a Ferrari for taking a previous one to a less expensive mechanic, but what are you gonna do?

12 Reject All Things Pink

Via: WalesOnline

Sorry, Barbie, but if you want the new F8 Tributo, you'll have to find a new color, because pink isn't on the menu. Yep, you heard that right, no new Ferrari's are allowed to be made in pink. Ferrari sees it as sacrilegious and so do we. Of all the rules they have, this one is the most reasonable.

11 Keep Secrets When Necessary

Via: Ferrari Corporate

As a gift to those loyal to Ferrari, long-time members of the Ferrari family may be invited to secret events. Sometimes they show-off new models, while others are to discuss business ventures or shareholder concerns. It goes without saying that these top secret meetings are to remain just that, top secret. No leaking info to the public, especially if it has to do with an upcoming car/piece of technology.

10 Touring The Maranello Factory

Do you met all the rigorous requirements to get a new Ferrari? You may think you so, but have you ever visited the Ferrari factory? No? Well, that's a strike against you! Yes, to get a factory-fresh Ferrari you need to actually go there yourself at some point (preferably when finalizing the sale). Well, bad news for the introverts among us...

9 No Modifications Unless Permitted

Via: Top Gear

Like with the 'no pink' clause, Ferrari also mandates that owners do not modify their cars unless otherwise permitted to do so. As much as us tuners love to see a Liberty Walk 488 GTB, Ferrari does not. In their minds, the car is perfect as-is, and can you really blame 'em for that? Seems to us like they're correct.

8 No Lamborghinis

Via: Drag Times

What does Ferrari hate more than losing races and the color pink? Obviously, it's the Italian bull itself: Lamborghini. As such, if you apply for a new Ferrari, but own a Lamborghini already, Ferrari will kick you to the curb. The last thing they want is someone who can compare the two, regardless of the outcome. To Ferrari, they've always been superior.

7 Repurchase Agreements

Via: Ferrari Certified Pre-owned

Ferrari treat their cars like works of art. So, when owners grow tired of their Ferrari and wish to trade or sell it for a new one, Ferrari mandates that they are allowed first dibs. Ferrari wants to consolidate their creations, even if it means repurchasing classics. After all, this is how Ferrari fills many of their museums...

6 No Reselling/Trading Until Allowed

Beyond having to let Ferrari get first dibs on repurchases, they also require owners to hold their vehicles for a certain time. Meaning, in short, that you can't sell your Ferrari until they say so (or whenever it was agreed upon). With that in mind, make sure the one you get is the one you want. If not, buyer's remorse will kick in once you're stuck with it.

5 Ambassador Of The Brand

Via: WSJ

Just as your car represents you, so too do you represent your car. At least, that's how Ferrari sees it. Similar to American public schools, whatever you do outside of their premises can still negatively impact you there. Ferrari want role-models to drive their cars, not hooligans who would (potentially) tarnish their name.

4 Ferrari Can Do No Wrong

Via: Wikipedia

As hilarious as this photo is of a Ferrari-themed Pope is, we wouldn't be surprised to find that this is how Ferrari see themselves. After decades of race wins, beautiful sports cars, and broken records, Ferrari see themselves as the prime example of perfection. Most importantly, though, they make sure you think the same way. In public, you are the Ferrari brand, and you MUST act like it. As such, Ferrari can do no wrong...

2 Must Already Own Several Ferraris

Via: The Drive

Imagine this: you already possess dozens of Ferrari cars, spanning from the Ferrari 275 GTB to newer V8 models. However, when trying to get a special edition LaFerrari Aperta, you're declined for a lack of Ferrari inventory.

This, dear reader, is what happened to Preston Henn, a rich Ferrari enthusiast who sued Ferrari in 2017. It just goes to show that, even with dozens of Ferrari's, the company may still deem that too low of a number. Well then, better start your collection early!

1 Agree To Let Them Store Your Car

Via: Reddit

Ferrari has a special set of customer race cars, designated as the "XX Programmes" in Ferrari's Corse Clienti section. These XX cars are pure racing machines; no street-legal accessories to be found. Although they're several millions of dollars, Ferrari makes you promise to let them hold the car. Whenever you want to drive it you give them a call and Ferrari techs will meet you there.

Kind of crazy to spend such a huge amount of money, yet, not get to keep the thing in your own garage!
