Koenigsegg is a popular Swedish automaker that has been a big name in the supercar industry for around twenty years. Following many concepts, their first production vehicle came in 2002, and until recently, their newest model was the awesome Koenigsegg Regera, of which 80 cars have been produced.

However, at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, the brand announced their latest model, the Koenigsegg Jesko, a car named after Christian von Koenigsegg’s father. According to the Swedish automakers, this car will be able to reach speeds of more than 300 miles per hour, which would set a new record.

As the hypercar isn't present on our streets yet, with production beginning in two years, we have decided to compile a list of 15 things we now know about the Jesko. Let’s get right to it!

15 It Could Go 300 Miles Per Hour

According to the good folks at Koenigsegg, the Jesko will be able to reach speeds of over 300 miles per hour. This hasn’t been proven yet, but if it’s true, it will make it the quickest street-legal vehicle in the world - by far. At the moment, the holder is the Agera RS, another beast produced by Koenigsegg.

14 Its Starting Price

As you probably already expect, the Koenigsegg Jesko has quite the exorbitant price tag. To get your hands on one, it costs around $2.8 million. If you’re lucky to have that kind of money laying around and are thinking of buying one, unfortunately, it’s too late as all are already spoken for.

The Jesko is the successor to the already incredible Koenigsegg Agera RS. However, the Jesko is more technologically-advanced, and it comes equipped with bodywork featuring air intakes and dive planes, and it has a transmission system with “Ultimate Power on Demand” (UPOD) technology.

12 Its Exterior Design

The Koenigsegg Jesko was designed by Joachim Nordwall. Its monocoque is made from carbon fiber, and it looks both fierce and slick at the same time. It features green accents, and this is because Jesko von Koenigsegg was a big fan of horse racing, and jockeys typically wore white and green.

11 The Interior

The street-friendly and track version of the Jesko will have different interiors, with varying levels of luxury. The street version will come with adjustable seats, while the more aggressive track-ready version will have a one-piece, carbon fiber seat. Also, both have a 5-inch touch screen infotainment system.

10 Only 125 Will Be Produced

The Koenigsegg Jesko, which is named after the owner of Koenigsegg’s father, will only see a total of 125 cars produced. So, if you ever end up seeing it on the road, consider yourself lucky as this is one rare hypercar. It might seem like a few, but it is the highest volume production of Koenigsegg yet.

You know how some extreme sports cars are not road-legal everywhere? Well, thankfully, that is not the case with the Jesko, as it has been homologated to be road-legal everywhere around the globe. This surely came as a great surprise to hypercar enthusiasts from all around the world.

8 Its Engine And Power

The Jesko comes equipped with a monstrous 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that is able to produce 1280 horsepower on pump gas and 1600 horsepower on E85. It makes it difficult to understand how the engineers at Koenigsegg managed to keep the hypercar environmentally-friendly and pass emissions tests worldwide.

Compared with other Koenigseggs, the Jesko features a new steering wheel and controls. The wheel is made of carbon fiber and there is a digital speedometer directly mounted on it. Also, there is a system that ensures the speed readout is always horizontal, which is a system commonly used on airplanes.

6 The Autoskin Upgrade

The Jesko has the same Autoskin upgrade as its predecessor, the Regera, and if you’re not familiar with it, it’s a system that allows you to automatically open and close all the car’s doors on command. Also, it has sensors that prevent the doors from hitting other objects while opening.

5 Features The Triplex Suspension System

Triplex is a system that was first introduced in the Swedish automaker’s Agera in 2010 but has been slightly improved in the Jesko. The damper in the rear suspension avoids the car squatting during hard acceleration, and it is present in the front suspension too in order not to compromise grip.

4 Features Multi-Clutch Transmission

The Koenigsegg Jesko features a nine-speed seven-clutch transmission that showcases incredible Swedish engineering. It is the most capable automatic gearbox out there. According to Christian von Koenigsegg, it is called Light Speed transmission due to how quickly and seamlessly you can switch gears.

If you now feel like you’ve really got to have this car, unfortunately, you’re a little too late. As mentioned earlier, only 125 Jeskos will be produced, and they’ve all been pre-ordered already. Perhaps you can buy a used one once somebody decides to sell theirs, but we doubt many people reading this could afford it anyway.

2 There Will Be Two Models

According to representatives of the Swedish automakers, there will be two versions of the supercar: a track model and a street version. The street version will feature less aggressive aerodynamics, as well as the ability to stow the roof panel in the trunk, which you can’t do in the track model.

1 First Deliveries Scheduled For 2023

As mentioned earlier, the Jesko has already sold out, but the lucky people who have one reserved will have to wait until 2023 to receive their new baby. Production is set to begin in around two years, with all components of the car produced in-house in Angelholm, aside from the tires.
