There are very few places in the world like the Isle of Man. It's a small dependency of the UK but governs itself into some interesting situations. First of all it doesn't have any speed limits. That attracts all kinds of people from around the world on its own, but the little Isle has also become the Road Racing Capital Of The World thanks to a single event.

That event is the Isle of Man Time Trial. It is a motorcycle race that sees competitors send it in a glorious way. There are few events as dangerous as this one, both for the riders and the spectators.

16 No Brake Checking

Via IOMTT Shop

Imagine the guy ahead of you tapping his brakes here unexpectedly. Leaned in on a knee is one of the worst places you could possibly need to panic brake. Nevertheless, these guys are total pros, they know that if they don't push it, the guy behind them will.

15 Vertical

Via - Huckberry

In basketball, you constantly hear presenters bragging about what amazing vertical leaping capabilities certain players have. I've got to think they'd be more impressed with this vertical though. There could've been a speed bump there and he would've cleared it.

14 Drifting

You know you're looking at a skillful rider when the bike is sideways while at the same time not touching the ground. Remember that these guys are in a major competition so there is no time for slowing down no matter what.

13 Bucking Bronco

Via - Rideapart

A bucking bronco is not as scary as this photo. That bike is hurtling through the air at well over 100 mph and this guy is about to get slammed onto his seat. He looks so poised and prepared though. A good example for us all to stay focused and ride it out!

12 Hancock

What you can barely see here is the second part of this time trial partnership. That guy is hanging on for dear life but at the same time, he's integral to lap times. That person is allowed to move around and help the sidecar corner. At your own risk of course.

11 Hold On Tight

VIa - BMWMotorradMotorsport

What a hero shot. This looks like a warrior from the 1700s about to head into battle on his noble steed. This steed though is a BMW superbike that can easily eclipse 200 mph. This rider makes holding on to all that power look easy.

10 The Americans

Via - Silodrome

Old school cool in this photo of the very first Americans to ever compete at the Isle of Man TT. Even cooler is that they're a couple. Joe and Alma Rocheleau were just as brave as anyone else. They were one of the 10% of rookies that finish the race.

9 Someone Said Time Trial?

Via - Autoblog

Subaru has sponsored the event for a long while and so they bring their own cars from time to time just to see what's possible there. Look at the air that thing is getting. Thank goodness Subaru has such a long history of rally racing where this kind of stuff happens all the time.

8 No Runoff

Via - Independant

Seeing as this race takes place over 37 miles of the Isle, there are no normal race track safety runoffs. Take a look at this section of the track where a wrong move could land you inside this stone building. Certainly not an event for the faint of heart.

7 Sending It

When you see a person stunting on the highway you most likely think something less than kind about them. When you see a front wheel up in the air at a place like the Isle of Man it's only because of one thing. The bike is so powerful that it can't help but lift that wheel up.

6 Tradition

This race has been going on for over a century. That's right, people have been getting after it on the Isle for more than 100 years. This photo demonstrates how modified bikes were becoming more than 50 years ago. All in the pursuit of speed.

5 A Flight For Two

Sidecars are their own discipline. Knowing your teammate and how they're going to help you around the track are invaluable. Take a look at these two flying over this jump. That's total focus and action on display.

4 Record Setter

Via - Motortrend

This shot is from the world record-setting run Subaru sponsored back in 2016. It took a car with 600 horsepower to do the deed. Having all that power surely helped this AWD machine claw out of the slow corners faster than anything before it.

3 Getting A Knee Down

Via - Ultimate Motorcycle

Even if you're not wildly familiar with motorcycles, it's likely you've heard of getting your knee down. It helps the rider get the bike turned around a corner just a bit easier but it takes a great deal of skill. Here you can see how far off the other side of the bike the rider is coming. Wow.

2 We Are One

Via - MCNews

Something about the TT shows you what we're all capable of. In a photo like this, you can see how man and machine are coming together to attack and overcome an obstacle. Feeling like your bike is just an extension of you is the only way to do it.

1 Yes It's Real

Via - MotorAuthority

As mentioned above, the perks of sponsoring the event are vast and Subaru takes total advantage. This BRZ isn't a rally car though and came down exceptionally hard on its nose. It still finished the run but I can only imagine what it looked like underneath after this jump.
