The 1970s had the pimpmobiles in the cities. The 2010s and up have the Donk cars. Who doesn't admire the crazy amount of reverse engineering to mate impossibly large tires and rims under a normal car? These cars are meant to attract attention and get the driver noticed.

Yes, often damage occurs when this is done to a vehicle but that is all part of the process. Some of these cars look like they are from the video game series Grand Theft Auto. Not all owners are shady like in the video game.

While 6 side color cube paint has been around for 30 years, it does nicely contrast the gold plated mega wheels. It's an acquired taste! RPMs are probably 1500+/- at 60 miles per hour when in overdrive due to the large wheels, but you can always downshift to go uphill. Those wheels are huge and most likely require 2 people to install each one.

Taking advantage of the back seat making those springs work because all the girls will want to ride! Our guy has a matching brass plated grill that matches his wheels. Nice gold color faux Rolls Royce fascia and pink top with matching pinstripes.

If you look closely the fenders are flared, and the wheels are painted the same white body color with the exception that the car paint has pink pearl and the wheels do not. Reverse offset wheels on a 300, who'd have thought about it?

14 Donk Convertible Mustang

Here is a mild Donk Mustang. We kind of like the pink on pink with a black top and chrome rim scheme.  The tires will allow the rims to be bent on any pothole if he isn't careful, but he picked up some ground clearance which is useful. The aftermarket grille is typical brushed aluminum. There is a lot of pearl in the paint which we like.

We applaud the owner's dedication, there are people who are serious and then there are people who are really serious! This guy is the latter! Nothing is untouched in this car. The interior was done to compliment the paint scheme. This car isn't for everybody, and he doesn't care if you like it, he does! The use of pastels is interesting. There was a lot of engineering just to get the doors to open and close.

It kind of hurts to see this one. Porsche put a lot of engineering in their suspension design fro this car. The VW versions got a lower spec suspension because of cost. With the wheels sticking out of the wheel wells, we know that the handling has been compromised somewhat. We hope it's safe to operate and we wish the owners well.

A C6 Corvette with side pipes is unusual in itself. The suspension has been radically altered and the wheels are strictly for car shows as you would easily break either the rims or tires riding over bumps. A Corvette with 2 feet of lift, different! Notice that it appears to be a Corvette body mounted to a truck frame. Those are ugly wheels and we aren't sure who designed them, or why someone would buy a set. They do look light in weight.

10 Dodge Charger Wagon Donk

Courtesy Azar Wheels

This one is sponsored by Azara Wheels and is in a donk contest during the photo-shoot. Obviously, with a stereo like that, the owner won't be putting groceries in the rear hatch area. The color change paint is ok and the wheels aren't too wild. Interestingly the trunk lid is now part of the show with its unusual shape being accentuated by the banks of speakers. The car has a couple of club decals on the windows that look nice.

9 Mitsubishi Eclipse

Here is a Donked 2nd generation Eclipse. The front bumper cover is modified with a body crafters kit and the tape stripes and wheels have altered the look. The suspension looks like it has had a 2" lift to make it all fit. Interestingly the Urethane front cover looks like a modified Civic. The wheels are nothing special and are standard fare. It looks like a front-wheel-drive version and not an all-wheel-drive version.

We actually like the pin-on grill and valiance from the local auto-parts store.  The wheels look good but we aren't sure about the ride quality or what kind of be-spoken lift kit was made for it.

Hondas aren't known for strong wheel bearings or half-shafts, we hope it's all working out. The wheels are very fancy castings and are very intricate. You can see some suspensions re-work has been done on the back axle.

7 Donked F-Pace

This one is kind of ugly and we hope it was a former salvage vehicle because this is supposedly the first high-quality Jaguar that handled excellently, didn't break down and had good power.

The paint job is by someone not too familiar with how to do a fade and proves why someone needs the ability to float on a coaster when spraying one. Obviously, the spray guy tried to walk the paint.

Candy Apple Fuschia, most likely a wrap, but we like it as donk cars go. We are a little suspect of the distance from fender lip on the rear wheel. We hope it's an air-bag suspension at its lowest setting or there will be problems when driving. Oddly enough the chromed gas cap is now matching the wheels for a nice contrast to the paint.

5 Donk JDM Skyline

Courtesy Car Throttle

This is one you wouldn't expect to see. It also appears to have a custom suspension with either ladder bars or a hidden hydraulic lift unit. Oddly enough the builder put tires and wheels that are only slightly upsized. You can tell that photo was taken somewhere in the American south. We think this one may also be a  drag racer as well. The builder looks like he was going for an A/FX look on a late model car.

4 CVT Failure Imminent

Courtesy VW Vortex Forum

Does anyone want to wager the CVT transmission fails early on this one? Remember this was the first high powered car to make use of a CVT transmission as they are tricky to utilize under torque. Nissan got around that.

We'll see how well it works turning a third more weight for tires and rims. At least it looks good. If it holds up, then we say well played, Sir.

3 Gallardo Spyder Lift Kit

Courtesy Car Throttle

Too much money, not enough common sense! We aren't sure about this one. Why tear up a top of the line convertible and put a lift kit in it? The wheels match at least. We hope this is just a fitment check for the modifications required for larger tires and wheels. We wonder what they did to get 14" lift. It could really use a larger set of wheels when it's lifted that high.

2 Purple Chromatic SRX

Courtesy Pitnerest

This one is kind of pretty. If you look closely the paint is a fade from purple to fuchsia under a clear. The wheels have a nice matching purple on them as well. The pin on grill looks good too. Even the luggage rack has been painted to match.

The car should have plenty of power to turn those heavy wheels. The dark-tinted windows look great against the contrast of the brilliant paint. We aren't sure what the number 34 signifies!

1 Infiniti FX Donk

Courtesy Motoward

This mild Donk actually looks tasteful. We worry those tires and rims would be easily damaged and that may be why the photos were shot on soft sand. Most likely this car drives in small areas of the East Coast of Florida or Southern Calfornia. It has to be driven carefully. We doubt the owner worries too much and he obviously enjoys it. We like the subtle painting of the rims, it's interesting.
