Drag racing is a fantastic form of motorsport. The concept behind it is very simple. Just one superfast car going flat out down a 1/4 mile, or longer, run. Some people like to get into racing at quite an early age — just look at Max Verstappen. But do they ever end up with a 1,500 hp car at the age of just 17? That Racing Channel on YouTube has spoken to 17-year-old Kevin Aleman, who owns a 1,500 hp Honda Civic, he calls “El Violento.”

Backstory To His Honda Civic

Aleman talks about his car and what lies under the hood. He says the car runs a B18 short block engine, with Arias Pistons and a four-piston cylinder head, with a Precision Turbo that is 67 mm. The engine was actually built by his dad at Chapulin Performance, who holds the fastest SWFD world record with his own Civic. Aleman meanwhile has second place in the quickest SWFD with a 7.71 second pass. Aleman says he isn’t quite sure how much power the car has, although he says it is around 1,400 hp.

A Stunning First Pass

The first pass off the trailer was hugely impressive for the Civic. Aleman went straight out there with a 7.94 second pass time, hugely impressive for his and the car's first-ever run. The video shows El Violento up against Aleman’s dad’s car, La Violenta, and he is able to match his father with a 7.803 run time, his dad a tiny bit ahead at 7.802 which is incredible.

Racing has always been in Aleman’s blood, learning since he was little, and it’s something he loves, and competing against his dad is great, and even better when he beats him.

Aleman said he started racing in the 1150 Index Class, where his dad got him a car to develop his own racing skills. And his dad saw the progress his son was making, and hence they decided to build him the unbelievable Civic. The video ends with another clip of Aleman drag racing his dad, and while he falls just three tenths short of beating him, the sight of these two super powerful Civics blasting down the drag strip is something to behold. And at just 17, Aleman has a lot more potential within him too!
