Car shopping is an absolute joy especially when the vehicle you’re looking for is for spirited driving. For some, the hunt for the ideal car is part of the experience; all the waiting and negotiating, you’ll have to sift through numerous online ads or YouTube reviews on the specific car you want. A large number of millionaires spend a fortune on supercars just to get that adrenaline rush we all crave so badly and when they do, some accidents are bound to happen especially with giddy, excited hands. It’s no secret that not everyone who buys high-performance cars has the capacity and skill to handle such potentially dangerous machines. Quite a few have already even crashed their beloved, new investments mere hours after driving them out of the dealer lot.

Granted, there are innumerable ways a car can be ruined and it’s probable that some, if not most of the cases here were actually caused by the unfortunate supercar owner. More often than not, people somehow get a mean satisfaction when they see an expensive car totaled; we don’t know if it can be called jealousy or not but it’s selfish to laugh at these people’s misery nonetheless. Enjoying incredibly fast supercars should also be done in a controlled and safe environment, maybe at the local track or empty parking lots and back roads, basically any place where you can’t damage any property or hurt anyone. One thing’s for sure, so long as inexperienced drivers are at the helm of capable cars, there’s always going to be an occasional mash up.

18 Porsche 911 GT2 RS

Via rorankmassodoku.ga

The aftermath of this accident looks like something from a junkyard for scrap metal. It took only 4 hours for the owner to crash the craziest Porsche production model when he apparently smashed the rear end of a semi-truck at 160 mph. Once again, this verifies that one will need skill as well as experience to operate a car with ample power safely. It’s also not advisable to push your car to its limits straight from the dealership as you’ll need to have at least some familiarization with the whole machine. What a shame to have one of the most insane cars to ever grace the streets totaled.

17 Lamborghini Huracan

via youtube

Lamborghinis are kind of like wood chisels in shape which is why when this Huracan collided with an innocent Honda Civic, the Japanese made automobile was lifted up and over like a wood chip. Honestly, it’s quite saddening to see such a gorgeous car driven so irresponsibly to the point where even parallel parking can’t be done properly. Apparently, the Lambo was hit by another vehicle and the driver panicked; instead of pressing the brakes, he accidentally stomped on the gas in a nervous frenzy, it is still by no means an excuse for such poor presence of mind.

16 Audi R8 V10

via business insider

There’s something oddly satisfying about a brand new, straight off the lot car that makes everyone so excited, especially if that brand new car is an R8 V10. Audi’s Quattro system is one of the best in the business for all-wheel drive setups but the unfortunate driver in this case apparently lost control of the car in the middle of a corner doing more than the speed limit and ended up in a deep ditch. Whatever the case may be, this mishap is even more painful thanks to the dealer plates and the blue pieces of foam which indicates that this R8 came from the dealership just a few days ago.

15 Ferrari 458 Speciale

via autogespot

Even the name suggests that this is something special, it’s presumed to be the last of the naturally aspirated V8 engines to grace Ferrari’s line up. With this in mind, the Italian giants from Maranello have stepped up their game a bit for the 458 Speciale.

Unfortunately, somebody wrecked a perfectly good example of the limited production 458 and destroyed almost the whole left side of the vehicle when the driver oversteered into on-coming traffic.

Everything from the door panels, the fenders, the pillars, and the window of course have been basically kaput. These damages certainly won’t buff out, someone will need to pay a hefty price for repair and restoration of this Speciale.

14 Another Audi R8 V10

via quattrodaily

An all-new model usually garners up a lot of attention, more so in the case of the R8 V10 due to its predecessor being widely popular already so it’s quite obvious that the next iteration would have to reach people’s high expectations.

However, one of the very first R8 V10’s shipped to the United Kingdom for demos and test drives was unluckily involved in an accident and was flipped upside down when the driver lost control and hit a barrier awkwardly. It was reported that the internals of the supercar were fairly okay and no major mechanical issues were found. The body repairs though would still amount to thousands of dollars.

13 Chevrolet Corvette Z06

Via Corvette Forum

It’s common for car manufacturers to test the limits of their new models in the Green Hell, otherwise known as the Nurburgring due to the track’s ability to push any car to its limits.

Unbeknownst to many, a crash happened when Corvette took their all new Z06 to the Nurburgring even though it showed quite a lot of promise for the supercharged muscle.

Another accident happened in the state of Michigan involving a Z06 again not long after. Apparently, the Corvette spun out on wet pavement and collided with another vehicle. Alas, rear-wheel drive with too much power, so dangerous.

12 McLaren P1

Via Youtube

Street signs in ridiculously disciplined countries such as Japan are usually visually clear and easy to comprehend. One person driving a yellow McLaren P1 didn’t get the memo as it seems when he went up the center island while lining up for a toll booth. Fortunately, not much damage was done to the car even on the underside considering that much of the weight of the supercar rested on its underbelly for a substantial amount of time. Whatever prompted this ordeal to happen in the first place, deem it to be irrelevant because as the saying goes “no harm no foul.”

11 Lexus LFA

Via youtube.com

Deemed as one of the best bang for buck supercars available on the market, the LFA is one amazing car to keep in any collection. Its V10 exhaust tone is considered to be the finest and most refined sound coming from any vehicle.

These things are still constantly shooting up in value and it seems as though there’s no sign of them stopping which is exactly why when this LFA lost control and rear-ended another car then hit a wall, our hearts simply broke.

As we all very well know, carbon fiber is extensively difficult to make and they are quite expensive as well, it’s no surprise that this Chinese owned LFA will have to get a new and costly carbon fiber bumper.

10 McLaren 570S

Via Kelowna Capital News

For some clueless folks out there, Goodwood is a festival wherein a bunch of rich guys in their multimillion dollar cars speed through a couple stretches of pavement with a crowd cheering them on.

This poor McLaren 570S was on its way to the said festival but unfortunately into a residential building and got burnt to a char.

The driver claims that he tried to swerve away from an animal that came darting into the road which in turn made him smash into an electric pole. We don’t know about you guys but others prefer their supercars to be cooked medium rare.

9 Lamborghini Murcielago

via youtube

A Californian couple lost control their newly bought 2008 Murcielago and collided with a tree along the side of the road when the rear wheels went wide. This very well might be another case of an unskilled driver meets a powerful automobile proving once again that V12’s and inexperienced drivers do not go well together. What’s more alarming is after the couple crashed the supercar, they left it on the road without thinking twice. A few eyewitnesses said that a short man and a woman no older than 60 were fleeing the scene right after the incident happened. The crashed Murcielago still even had dealership plates on it; authorities probably caught the driver by now and the matter settled.

8 Pagani Zonda F

Via Wikiwand

Pagani Zondas are quite rare as only 106 of them were made and only 25 out of the 106 were Zonda F’s that offered a bit more than what the base model Zonda provides.

Unfortunately, a wealthy businessman in Hong Kong crashed his Zonda when a truck lost control and forced the excessively expensive supercar into some parked cars after a day at the track with his buddies.

Judging from the damage on the images, it would be a costly repair to say the least. The owner definitely went through a roller coaster ride of emotions, coming from a track session in a Zonda no less then destroying it shortly after would be devastating.

7 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG and SLS AMG

via walldevil

Another mishap happened again in China back in 2012 when a couple of automotive journalists were reviewing the all new C63 AMG and the SLS AMG when they were about to be released in Asian markets.

What happened was that the C63 rear-ended the gull wing door having supercar when the journalist at the wheel of the SLS braked hard before a corner.

Both expensive vehicles sustained a substantial amount of damage which suggests that the collision happened at relatively high speeds. Both drivers were reported to be fine after the incident but they most probably lost their jobs.

6 Porsche 918 Spyder

Via Youtube

One of the more common reasons for crashes to occur at a race track is when a car gets even just one of its wheels on grass instead of pavement. Granted, Mustangs are known to plow through crowds but that doesn’t mean that other cars certainly can’t. This incident happened at a car show in Malta for new models and the German hypercar was one of the examples of the show. A total of 26 people were injured when the rear wheel of the 918 went over grass and lost control of the whole vehicle at an astonishing speed and went through the barrier.

5 Ferrari La Ferrari

Via Wikimedia Commons

93 miles per hour surely isn’t all the La Ferrari can do but it certainly can crash at way less than that. Another case of inexperienced driver meets insane supercar happened when this hypercar attended a rally in Italy where participants could try out the La Ferrari for a hot lap.

Letting random people you don’t know well drive your super expensive vehicle won’t probably end well for anybody, it’s just an accident waiting to happen and it unfortunately did.

Hopefully, no damage was done to the glorious engine of this incredible beast. Apparently, the car spun out in a corner and losing control then was sent flying face first into the wall.

4 Nissan GT-R

Via Wallpapers

The Nissan GT-R is relatively cheap compared to its competitors in the same segment. It has one of the most incredible accelerations on a standard model; all-wheel drive is always a welcome feature as they can pull you away with more grip than rear-wheel drive vehicles.

This totaled GT-R was flipped when the driver lost control along a highway in Johannesburg, South Africa. It was bought brand new by a famous athlete a short time prior to the incident which just adds more salt to the wound. The driver was extremely fortunate not to sustain any injuries or even minor cuts and bruises.

3 Jaguar F-Type

Via Canadian Auto Reviews

Back in 2013, the jaguar F-Type was a concept car still rigorously tested on various platforms. On a gloomy day, one reporter managed to lose control of the F-Type and smashed it against a wall.

The traction control was turned off and the wet road surface took the wheels from under it; the episode would make for a very bad day for the reporter.

They haven’t even been released for public yet and one has already crashed, well at least it was an isolated incident as no mechanical malfunctions were deemed to be the cause of the mishap.

2 Lamborghini Aventador

via rssportscars.com

No matter how much technology and driving aids manufacturers install in a vehicle, human error will always be the source of accidents. Luckily for the driver and the passenger, all the safety features of the Lambo worked quite well when the driver apparently drove the car into a pole which almost tore the car in half though we don’t know the exact status of the poor passengers. The Aventador was released just shortly prior to the crash which makes this accident a lot more painful, not that it would make a difference if the vehicle was months old. One can avoid being in a similar accident if only all drivers on the road had the presence of mind to prevent such circumstances.

1 Ferrari 430 Scuderia

Via Driving Emotions

It’s utterly amazing how the driver sustained only minor injuries like a few cuts and bruises here and there in this particular case, given the state of his absolutely wrecked Ferrari 430 Scuderia.

The supercar was already ablaze when firefighters arrived at the scene and then they doused the fire out just a short walk from a main British highway.

Given that there are only a handful of these models sold (499 units around the globe to be exact), the price of one of these bad boys could reach over $280,000. Authorities did end up concluding that another reckless driver on the road sideswiped the supercar which proves that the Ferrari driver did nothing wrong, contrary to one might presume.
