H&H Classics has its hands on a very well maintained original 1937 Bentley Vanden Plas. This car is set to be put up for auction on Oct. 17, 2018. This beautiful Derby Bentley has been declared the best preserved in the world.

According to AutoClassics, H&H claims that this is the most original 1937 3.5-litre Vanden Plas Bentley in the world. This bold statement is backed up with quite some compelling facts. The car has only had three owners and it has covered just 15,000 miles. That is less than 170 miles a year.

This ride is among the four 3.5-litre to have the original Vanden Plas Drophead Coupe coachwork. The original two-tone red paintwork and leather interior. This beauty also has it's original engine, gearbox, brakes, and even its chassis has its original paint.

On March 1, 1937, it was registered under Robert S Hayward as DLO 936. During this time, Hayward covered just 11,000 miles. This was before he sold it in Edinburgh through a dealership where W Randolph Angell Esq bought it — it was love at first sight. He described the car as perfect and immaculate. When he bought it, the car still had it's original tonneau covers and its unused spare parts.

He initially did not have money to buy the car, a place to park it, or even a driver's license. This, however, didn't deter him from getting his dream car. He took driving lessons just after buying the car. After a couple of years, his acquisition of classic cars increased. He bought a Jaguar E-V12 and a Riley Kestrel 15/6. This meant he kept the Bentley off the public roads. After 30 years, the car was sold by his heirs—who plans to sell it in October—to the current owner in 2013.

The car managed to maintain all it's original parts because all of the three owners handled it with care and adoration to the point of it being an obsession. The only thing that did not make the original list were the leather gaiter and spark plugs.

With help of Ken Lea a renowned Derby Bentley expert who is also the Chairman of Bentley Memorial Foundation, confirmation the authenticity of the Bently was made. The only thing that needs change was the wiring so as to prevent the car from burning.

The car is up for sale at the Imperial War Museum in Cambridgeshire during the H&H auction where it is expected to sell between £450,000-£550,000. We hope that whoever buys this beauty will maintain it as it's previous owners did.
