Everyone loves a good barn find, and there is something very special about finding a car that’s sat untouched for perhaps several decades. Currently listed on eBay is a pretty fascinating 1958 Chevrolet Impala. The seller states this Impala has not been on the road since 1972 and is a California find. The car is now located in El Paso, Texas, and the current asking price is $18,500.

The Chevy Impala Listing's Description

The listing for Impala states that this is a two-door hard top version of the 1958 Impala, and it spent nearly five decades off the road. From the factory, the car was black and it remarkably still has its original 348 4V engine that has an automatic transmission.

In terms of the condition of the exterior, it's easy to tell it's not done much in many years. The seller states the car is pretty solid, and that the only rust is in the trunk pan and the spare tire area. While the exterior might look quite respectable, things are a little bit different on the inside.

Chevy's Interior Completely Gutted

The exterior looks solid, but the interior of the car has been completely gutted. The listing goes on to mention that the entire interior, including the seats and steering wheel, is missing.

The seller says that an upholstery shop took them out of the car 40 years ago and subsequently lost. Pictures on the listing confirm this, with some gauges and the dashboard still being intact, but that is all that exists of the interior. If someone does pull out the nearly $19 grand to take on this project, they do have a blank canvas for the interior but face a lot of work to get it up to scratch.

Major Restoration Awaits The New Impala's Owner

This Impala is very much sold as seen, with it being a mammoth restoration job to whoever buys the car. The Impala does come with an old California pink slip title, and the seller mentions that anyone interested is welcome to come and inspect the car or have it inspected before they make the purchase.

The buyer, though, is to pay all the transport costs and has to make a $500 non-refundable deposit on the car within 24 hours of the sale. This is a project very much not for the faint-hearted.
