When you think about classic muscle cars, the Ford Mustang, despite the generation, is often at the top of every list. Although not released until a couple of years later, the Ford Mustang had its formal debut at the US Grand Prix on October 7, 1962. Since then, there have been six generations of the car aptly referred to as “the pony car”.

Everyone who loves the Ford Mustang has a favorite of the long line of cars. For some, they prefer the classics, but for others, the newer models are where it’s at due to all the technological advances. However, the 1967 is often considered to be the very best, but that’s subjective. This model is considered to be a living legend among gearheads far and wide, and it's easy to see why.

When it came to the design of the 1967 Mustang Fastback, Ford decided to try something new. This paid off as anyone who has ever experienced this car would tell you. There is a great deal to love about this it. It’s fast, it’s stylish, and it’s a whole lot of fun to drive, But what is its best feature?

Here is the best feature of the 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback.

Ford Mustang Fastback

The 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback is a special car. Partly because, well it’s a Mustang, but also because it sports a bold, some may even say aggressive, design. It truly stands out, both when it was new to the streets, and now that there have been so many newer Mustangs. As mentioned before, the 1967 model served as a redesign for the Mustang. In fact, it was the first time the car had undergone a major facelift since it debuted in 1964.

One reason why the design is exciting is that Ford made the 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback bigger than the previous model. No, it’s not a functional difference in size, but it adds to the bold look of this iconic ride. Besides that, this sporty beauty was designed with a functional flow-through ventilation system. You can spot the vents near the rear of the car that allow the air to flow through. The system is controlled from inside the vehicle.

As for the interior, the 67 Fastback seats two comfortably. There are also two seats in the back, but as most Mustang fans will jokingly say, those seats don’t exist because it’s such a tiny space.

Although it’s a true beauty, the design of the 1967 Mustang fastback isn’t the only thing that makes it special.

Ford Believes In Options

CLASSIC MUSTANG
1967 FORD MUSTANG

As a company, Ford is known for many things. One of those things is providing customers with many options for the drivetrain and general specs of their vehicle. For this car, there were five choices for the engine.

The base engine was a 3.3-liter V6 with a max horsepower of 120. If you wanted more power, another option was either the 2V 4.7 V8 that made 200 horsepower or the 4V with the same liter size that made 25 more horsepower. There was also a high-performance 4.7-liter V8 that achieved 271HP, according to tirekickers.com

For ultimate power, Ford also offered a 6.4-liter V8 with a horsepower of 320.

In terms of transmission, the 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback came with three options. There was a 3-speed manual as well as a 4-speed. The third option was the cruise-o-matic. This was the one you wanted if you didn’t want a stick shift. While this third option is fairly common now, the technology that allowed the transmission to function both as a manual and an automatic was not widely used in this classic era.

Ford put a lot into this car, and it paid off. The 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback is one of the company’s best.

2022 FORD MUSTANG

The Ford Mustang has been in production since the 1960’s and there are no signs of an end. Overall, it’s one of the most recognizable cars of all time. However, as the newer models continue to change, fewer people would see these classic options as Mustangs without the nameplate. Truly, the difference is like night and day, although there are some details that can be seen on newer Mustangs. But for non-car enthusiasts, many would think the 67 Fastback was a different car altogether.

This car is a true legend in the car world and it deserves to be talked about. Not only is it fast, but it has such a beautifully aggressive design that you can’t help but look at it if you were to see one on the street today. Every generation of the Ford Mustang has aspects that make it stand out from the rest, but for many, this first generation can never be topped. Despite this, we'll continue to welcome the Mustangs to come in future years.
