Every driver on the road knows the creepy sensation produced when a cop car pulls up in the rearview mirror. These days, as cops get to drive around in muscly Dodge Chargers, the sense of intimidation is all the more potent, though there's still something about Dodge's new muscle cars that just can't live up to the old classics. But now, builder Paul Terlosky of House of Mouse Racing has taken a 1968 Dodge Coronet that formerly served as a cop car in Canada and dropped in a monstrous, supercharged Hellcat V8 to marry the old with the new in an awesome drag strip-ready package.

Turn On The Siren

In a series of Facebook posts and an extensive history on the House of Mouse Racing website, Terlosky's creation looks like the perfect opposite of good, clean fun. Built originally for the Hot Rod Power Tour, the 6.2-liter engine produces a claimed 707 horsepower—much like a stock Hellcat straight from the Dodge factory assembly line—that is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic equipped with a custom adapter plate, on the way to a Dana 60 rear axle equipped with a limited-slip differential and 4.11 gearing.

The wild ride stance comes courtesy of AlterKtion coilovers at the front end and a set of Super Stock leaf springs to buoy the rear before it burns rubber obscenely. Wilwood disc brakes help bring this beast to a stop, while wheelie bars help keep it from flipping over during hard launches. All in all, this Coronet cop car serves as a great advertisement for Terlosky's work, though it sure would be fun to see it patrolling the highways and byways giving unsuspecting motorists a good scare.
