In the world of barn finds and restoration hunters the words ‘holy grail’ can come up more often than is strictly necessary. The words ‘barn find’ have also lost their meaning – but this Ford pony car is undeniably special and possibly the closest you can get to a ‘holy grail’ Ford Mustang in the flesh.

It’s not just any Mustang either, it’s a Shelby GT350 convertible, so things just got a little interesting already for the host of the YouTube channel Auto Archaeology. We follow him into the garage where there sits an awesome car that got left sleeping until 2022.

The 1968 Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang Convertible Barn Find

There are a lot of words in the name but the Shelby, GT350 and convertible words are valuable ones, especially attached to a car in as good condition as the one in this video. It’s a 1968 model that sat for the last 40 years without getting driven, moving from one garage to another and that’s about it.

The host explains that its late owner also had a Shelby GT500KR convertible that already got sold off and the daughter of the previous owner is now selling this car which has been waiting 4 decades for a chance to drive on the open road.

This Shelby GT350 is complete, original, doesn’t lose oil, features the original paint and interior, and is essentially in need of a clean and work over of the mechanicals to bring them up to working order. Even the roof is in good condition which seems incredible for how long the car was resting in a garage.

According to the host of the video, while he was present for filming, another person came to view the car, took a look, and agreed to buy it – presumably for north of $100,000 judging by what the YouTuber alludes to after talking to her beforehand.

Nowadays, the GT350 is an appreciating car for sure, and one in this ‘time-warp’ or ‘time-capsule’ condition is sure to attract attention and fetch a pretty dollar or two. Back in the day, this 4.9-liter pony car would only make around 250 hp. However, today it’s more about the heritage, retro style, and amazing survivor condition of cars like this.

$100,000 is a lot of cash but the new owner will be taking on a great investment and it will soon be back out on the road where it belongs.
