Toyota’s 2000GT is one of the most lucrative classic cars out there. Only 351 examples of this grand tourer were ever produced, with just 109 made in left-hand drive for export. Developed between Toyota and Yamaha, the 2000GT has a steel X-shaped backbone chassis, between the years 1967 and 1970. When these come up for auction, they can often go for at least $1 million. So it will be interesting to see how much this white 1968 example will go for, that currently sits up for auction over on Bring a Trailer.

This example of the Toyota 2000GT is in a stunning white, although the car was reportedly originally finished in a Solar Red color. It has 19,000 known miles recorded and the clock itself reads just 12,000 so this example hasn’t done much since 1968. Some of the cool design features of the 2000GT are the pop-up headlights, the bullet-style fender mirrors, and the contoured roof. The car features magnesium alloy center-lock wheels that are in a gorgeous black with polished lips. As standard, the Toyota 2000GT came with servo-assisted four-wheel disc brakes.

Step inside the Toyota and you will see a gorgeous black vinyl interior that is in fantastic condition. The Toyota has a color-matched dash, door panels, and console that beautifully complements the black vinyl across the seats and other parts of the interior. This interior simply oozes late 1960s and early 1970s Toyota. Very pleasing to the eye is the wooden shift knob that was typical of the time, and quite the quirky feature is the dash-mounted handbrake lever, another feature that helps make this such a special car.

Plenty Of 1960s Power Under The Hood

While you are not going to find a roaring V12 under the hood of the 2000GT, there is still plenty of power on offer. The Toyota 2000GT has a 1,988cc DOHC inline-six engine that has triple Mikuni-Solex carburetors, and this is all mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The car also has a Yamaha-designed aluminum cylinder head that has dual overhead camshafts as well as hemispherical combustion chambers. The Toyota 2000GT really shot to fame when the one-off topless version was in the James Bond film You Only Live Twice, and it will be fascinating to see how much this example goes for in just under two weeks' time.
