Barn finds are some of the most interesting classic cars we often come across, especially when it relates to cars that are still owned by their original owner. This particular car featured in a video on Auto Archaeology’s YouTube channel is a 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge. It has been with its original owner since 1969, and since 1980 it has been sitting around in a garage since that year after its current owner drove it into his shop to keep it safe following the construction of a new concrete floor.

The Story Behind The GTO’s Acquisition

The dealer this car came from was quite keen to get rid of it. So much so, they came out to the owner's place of work to arrange a trade in with his then car, a 1967 GTO. It was only ever on the road for about five years and was then moved around a bit, before the owner laid his concrete floor down in his shop and drove the car into it. The GTO is in Carousel Red, which is more akin to an orange, and the man behind the camera of Auto Archaeology says it is pretty much a time capsule.

The Ram air engine is as it was since the car was driven and parked into the shop, even if mice have got at the air cleaner. The Judge emblem is still present at the front of the car, and it was in fact used as a family daily driver before it arrived in the shop. It’s a four-speed manual, not an automatic, and sadly it did get rear-ended at some point in its life, but it escaped with pretty minor damage. The spoiler at the back was luckily unharmed following that accident.

Overall Condition Of The Car Is Pretty Good

The condition of the car overall is pretty good. The paint still looks great even if it is dirty and dusty, so it will clearly benefit from a careful and thorough clean should someone want to do that with it.

A few attached pictures at the end of the video show off the car during its family life, including the rear end damage, and then a few more images of the car sat in the shop gathering dust. It’s a truly remarkable find and a car that certainly deserves to be back out on the road.
