There’s so much buzz around the Ford Mustang these days especially as the new generation S650 is out from under the covers, as well as some promising performance models like the Dark Horse.

In addition, many of us are enjoying the last generation of a gasoline icon before things well and truly turn electric.

Ford’s latest Mustang arguably looks a little familiar though – with subtle differences from the original it also looks at its most modern and grown-up; but here we have the antidote in the form of a concept render by Instagram artist Rostislav Prokop exclusively for HotCars.

It hopes to instill a little of the fire and raw emotion of a vintage hero into a world sometimes sterile and predictable.

When it originally got dropped on HotCars, we saw the reference to John Wick, a fictional character from the film universe – who also is identifiable behind the wheel of his 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1.

This would surely also make for a great Wick car, true; as it is low, intimidating and very dark coming in black on black.

As you can see it is unmistakably a restomod render based on a 1970-era Mustang, and the Boss 429 was a very special version of the pony car, with a real racing influence – the front grille and lights along with the hood scoop bring back memories attached to this great old-timer.

The front bumper and lip are different, with a modern focus but the two side intakes adjacent to the circular headlamps are present although those lights are now LEDs.

Everything is black including any accents, while the wheels are a gun-metal kind of gray; there are pins to keep that long hood in check and the side profile reveals a very Mustang-like figure.

Up back, the rear is heavily-influenced by the classic car, we especially like the LED lights, slats across the rear screen and the nomenclature and badge – all very Ford.

While the car takes these elements and widens the car with muscular body panels and aero kit, it retains enough of that style which worked so well before that a modern Mustang would surely take second place.

As with all renders, we must move on to speculate on the engine of course – but considering the iconic nameplate here (and John Wick’s penchant for great American engines) it would not sound correct without an eight-cylinder engine inside, making itself known through the quad-exit exhaust up back.

It’s good this car would also be fast and agile – because everyone’s an assassin.
