NASCAR driver Ryan Blaney, and the eponymously named Ryan Blaney Family Foundation, tasked Gateway Bronco to build a 1974 Ford Bronco to be sold at the January 2020 Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona with proceeds going to the Alzheimer's Association. Blaney and his family created the Foundation in honor of his grandfather, Lou Blaney of dirt track racing fame, who perished in 2009 due to the ravages of Alzheimer's disease. The creation and sale of the Ford Bronco is a way to celebrate his granddad's legacy and raise money for a noble cause.
3 The Man And The Cause
Ryan Blaney drives the Number 12 Ford Mustang on the NASCAR circuit for the Penske Team. He's been quite successful racking up a number of wins. The efforts of the Blaney Family Foundation are noteworthy, and given the heritage of racing in the Blaney family they wanted to tackle a project near and dear to their hearts.
2 The Car
Blaney and the Foundation selected Gateway Bronco to do the build "...because of the superior quality, engineering precision, extreme care, and incredible craftsmanship...in the 1966-77 Broncos they have created." In support of this spectacular build, and the Alzheimer's Association, Blaney teamed up with Ford Performance, BODYARMOR Sports Drink, Discount Tire, Goodyear and PPG.
1 The Details
Given he's a NASCAR driver and a car nut, Blaney worked closely with Gateway Bronco to spec out the build. It's outfitted with a Ford 5.0 liter Coyote V-8 motor, 6-speed automatic transmission, a 4-link suspension with coilovers, disc brakes, stainless exhaust exhaust, power steering and seats, air conditioning, and a one-of-a-king Blaney designed paint scheme. Be sure to keep your eye out for it in Scottsdale in January. Here's hoping it goes for a lot as Alzheimer's research is a worthy cause. Buckle up.
