The thrill about a barn find is the chance of finding a rarity of a clunker that, with enough elbow grease, a gearhead gets to experience a rush of bringing a classic back to life. That's a possible thrill facing whoever gets to drive off with a trailer full of Mopars recently posted on Craigslist, or Chryslers discovered in an Arkansas graveyard, for example. But for wrench-handy folks with a taste for something relatively more exotic, the notion of resurrecting a vehicle like a Ferrari must be irresistible. Well, here's a chance for that contingent to stop gawking and start bidding on a prancing horse Testarossa from 1986 recently posted on eBay.

The current owner resides in Canada and has owned this rare, metallic silver Ferrari for the last 10 years, ever since he imported it from the U.S. This rear-wheel-drive offering is powered by a 4.9-liter V12 engine and a five-speed manual transmission that reportedly has slightly more than 31,000 miles on the odometer. While the owner didn't reveal any details on how it performs, statistics on the Testarossa reveal that its V12 could deliver 385 hp and 361 lb-ft of torque. The result was a top speed of 180 mph and a 0-160 mph run in 5.8 seconds.

There's another reason the owner didn't reveal this Ferrari's prowess on the road: it's not running. The Testarossa apparently worked well until two years ago, when the engine simply went kaput. Despite being moved to a trailer, it hasn't been touched ever since.

This Testarossa Needs Some Work

Beyond that issue, everything else seems minor, including some problems with the car's black interior, such as the leather seats and dash showing damage from shrinkage and wear-and-tear over time. On the exterior, there's a small dent on the left rear rocker panel, even though this Ferrari has never been in an accident. Some rust is visible on the passenger door, so touch-ups will be required.

The good news is that engine aside, the Ferrari's in pretty decent shape with all the windows intact and tires still roadworthy. The electrical system is also reportedly fine, with the air conditioner, radio, and power windows still fully operational.

Despite some problems with the Ferrari, interested parties continue to field offers, with the bidding level at this writing already past the $40,000 mark. The owner is also willing to help out with paperwork to export the item should the final bid be from someone outside Canada.
