2 Fast 2 Furious is the only Fast and Furious film to be set in Florida, more specifically Miami. It did star many awesome cars like the R34 GTR, Camaro Mk1, Honda S2000, etc. It also starred many new characters, which spiced things up a little. Some only appeared in that film, whilst others made it into the sequels. 2 Fast 2 Furious is a great film to watch on a Sunday afternoon, but it does have its issues.

The film was nominated for a Raspberry which is like an Oscar for the worst films. A Raspberry is an embarrassment, and like other Raspberry winners, the crew of 2 Fast 2 Furious did not attend the show. It's the only Fast and Furious film ever to be criticized this badly, and that is due to good reason. Here are nine things from the film that did not make any sense.

9 The Cars

There were many good cars in this film, but also so many bad cars. A Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder that was completely overhyped in every single way. That purple paint is bound to give you nightmares, it's as if a 5-year-old designed it on Need for Speed. Then there are other cars like that horrid E36 3 series in that bodykit which looks woeful.

The S2000 was cool... but in pink, no chance. To be fair, though, that car is now an icon and sits in the Peterson car museum. The NSX featured also isn't a great looker, being finished in a horrid paint job. Suki's 350Z was also spotted briefly, and that featured some absolutely hideous decals.

8 The Characters

via GAFollowers

A lot of the characters were confusing. Maybe not as confusing as in Tokyo Drift, but many were new. You had Paul Walker playing Brian O'Connor from the previous film, who was now in Miami. You then had Tyrese Gibson portrayed as Roman, who is O'Connor's long-lost friend it seems. Where did this all come from?

Then you have Tej played by Ludacris and Suki who is played by Devon Aoki. The worst thing is, though, other than Tej and Roman, these characters don't return for any future films. It all seems as if they were in a rush and that the directors just got whichever actors were available.

7 The Plot

via: kotakuaustralia

It's a normal plot but at the same time, it isn't. The whole criminal joining forces with police thing, done before, done again, and again, and will be done in the future. The whole street racing element then makes things exciting, but also stranger. Zoom into the scenes and things get really laughable. The scene where all those cars go out and distract the cops is definitely cringe-worthy.

Why can't this film be like the previous one? Just about a bunch of street racers who do crime etc. Where is that same family element that the franchise is famed for?

6 The Stunts

The stunts are cool but overall weird. The bridge jump scene in the street race is not needed at all. Why can't it be a simple street race? The reverse middle-finger thing on the highway by O'Connor is funny, but also a bit over the top. Overall, most of the stunts just make the film feel way too fast-paced, and it is hard to keep up with it all.

The boat scene though is the most laughable. Why is it in there? Is the stunt needed? A car crashing into a boat just seems like an afterthought, and surely the execution could have been so much smoother.

5 The Rat Scene

One of the cops gets tortured by the bad guy, and it is beyond strange. This scene tries to make the film seem a bit scarier. A bit more mafia-like. However, this scene ends up making everything a lot more disgusting, and the idea of having a rat chew through you isn't a very good one.

For all we know, rat torture may be common amongst underground organizations. If this was a film like Taken or John Wick, it would be acceptable, but it isn't. It's a street racing film, and scenes like this show that there are too many ideas going on in the film. It's all just too messy.

4 The Evo

This Mitsubishi Evo used in 2 Fast 2 Furious deserves to get its section. The Evo 7 was never sold in the US, hence why modifications were kept to a minimum, as they were hard to find. The Evo 8 was though, but it wasn't launched yet. To try to make the car look newer, they fitted Evo 8 taillights at the back, which in all honesty were not fitted very well.

The body kit is awful. How to ruin a great-looking car, just decorate it in the way a child would in Need 4 Speed. The franchise was going to use Neon SRT-4's instead, which would have been cooler since it was a new car back then which held some pretty exciting performance figures.

3 Lack Of Actors

No Vin Diesel, which is a huge shame. No Michelle Rodgriguez. No Jordana Brewster, either. These original characters were what made the first film so special, yet they wouldn't return until the relaunch in the fourth film. Paul Walker was in there at least, and the introduction of Ludacris and Tyrese Gibson was important.

Just these known actors from the original film were the holy grail. The originals. Surely there could've been a way to maybe have the second film with all of these people in? Even if the film was launched a little later.

2 Devon Aoki Can't Drive

This is no joke. When filming, they realized Devon Aoki, who portrayed Suki, could not drive. Ok, so you're making a car film, you need an actor who can drive. What do you do then? Find one who can't. Where is the logic in that? Of course, she was taught on set and everything, but it's all extra cost and more wasted time.

In only one scene do we see Suki drive properly, and that is in the street race. She isn't a bad driver at all, and the stunt team does deserve credit for teaching her how to drive and how to do so many advanced skills in such a short period of time.

1 It Was So Different To The First Film.

The first film was about criminal street racers and Brian the cop. It's all very exciting, but not too over the top. The film is still very much a street racing film. The second film was some criminal police thriller action film. Nothing added up whatsoever. Of course, there was the small Turbo Prelude film that tried to connect the dots.

The lack of actors mentioned earlier did not help either. It felt almost as if the producers rushed into this film after the success of the first one. This film was successful, but it just wasn't as well-thought-out as the first one, hence, why it was nominated for the worst sequel film Raspberry.
