Many pickup drivers may not like it, but trucks are getting fancier. Now that the pickup market has exploded, there's enough demand coming from some of the more niche clientele. That includes the "one-percenters." No, we're not talking about the Outlaw Motorcycle Club—we mean the top 1% income makers in the world. Trucks are getting more expensive. Automakers are offering more and more options, trims, packages, and add-ons each passing year. There are so many configurations, a truck can end up costing a fortune. While the majority of drivers pass up on these options, posh drivers exercise every single one. To these drivers, the driving experience overrides everything else, including function. Now that pickups are hotter than ever, it's only natural the market would attract these luxury drivers.

Updated: If you have a lot of cash burning a hole in your pocket and you figure you want to spend it on a fancy pickup truck, you'll be happy to know that we've updated this article with more expensive truck options.

Who can really blame automakers for going after this market? If the demand is there, it'd be a foolish business decision to pass up on it. Paying close to $100,000 or more for a fully loaded pickup is fast becoming a reality in this day and age. Truck enthusiasts are going to have to accept this hard truth and hope that it benefits the market in the end. One can only hope this pushes truckmakers' engineering, thus improving future truck performance and quality. Most people won't be able to afford a fully loaded truck that costs close to $100,000. These are the ritzy pickup trucks that cost the rich nothing while the rest of the world wonders whether life is short enough to give up an arm and a leg to own one.

20 Ford F-450 Super Duty Limited

via txGarage

All evidence seems to point to the Ford F-450 being the way of the future; this is where the pickup truck market—for better or worse—is headed. For $94,455, as per CNBC, a fully-loaded F-450 Super Duty Limited 4x4 is all yours. Intended to be a blend of both luxury and heavy-duty engineering, the F-450 is Ford pulling out all the stops for its top-tier buyers.

For those who still want to own one without all the unnecessary options, they start at around $87,100. While a fully loaded truck comes close to $95,000, one has to also factor in taxes, license fees, and insurance on top of that, which is anywhere between $5K-$15K, depending on one's state.

via Quirk Buick GMC

The GMC 1500 Sierra is another versatile truck that, when fully loaded, provides drivers with a pinnacle of all driving experiences. According to The Globe and Mail, a fully loaded version can go for as much as $86,000 in Canada.

Add on other fees associated with buying a new truck, such as registration and title fees—not to mention taxes—and it reaches the $100,000 mark in several states. When one considers everything that goes into it, including the 4WD and the posh interior, it's plain and simple why the price gets so out of hand. It's just not going to be available to all prospective buyers.

18 Ram 1500 Limited

via Butler Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram

Ram isn't known for skimping on its luxury options. They want to sell as many vehicles as they can, especially to their customers who want something more exclusive. A Ram 1500 Limited is already expensive in the States; in Canada, it's even more.

According to Driving, a fully loaded Ram 1500 Limited comes out to a little more than $90,000. With tax and title fees, that raises the truck’s price closer to $100,000. What exactly does all this money go into? To give a sense of how much add-ons cost, the equipment for the Limited edition alone will set back buyers $4K.

17 Ford Shelby F-150 Super Snake

via Motor1

What improves a truck’s value is the number of units built. That's the case with the insane Ford Shelby F-150 Super Snake. If the name alone didn't convince skeptics of this truck's formidability, then the stats will. Road & Track reports that the Super Snake can do 750 hp thanks to its 5.0-liter V8.

That makes this one high-performing truck that continues to set the bar high for F-150s. If there's any clue as to how many of these exist, one need only look to the model for guidance: Road & Track notes that Ford only produced 150 in all. That explains the $97,000 price tag.

16 Ram 2500 Limited

via Truck Trend

Same as the Ram 1500 and 3500 Limited models, the 2500 Limited is one of the most expensive trucks on the market. Combine that fully loaded estimate with the tax and license fees, and owners have got themselves a pricey piece of machinery on their hands.

According to Car and Driver, rewinding back a couple years, the 2016 Ram 2500 Limited was estimated to be worth a little more than $80,000. Add the taxes and registration fees on top of it, and it's going to cost nearly $95,000 in some states. That's a truck limited to just the top 1% of earners in the world.

15 Ford F-150 Raptor

via Motor1

Who can really judge truck owners for going all out on the features and add-ons Ford offers? If there's any Ford F-150 that deserves the full myriad of options, it's the 2018 Raptor. According to The Globe and Mail, fully loaded Raptors can go for as high as $90,000 in the Great White North.

While that manages to dodge the six-figure total, for now, there are still the taxes and the title fees to factor in. Taxes alone could bring in another $4K-5K of fees. That brings the total amount to about $100,000 before maintenance and insurance costs are even thrown into the mix.

14 Ram 3500 Limited

via Nyle Maxwell Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram

Some fully loaded trucks on the bottom line come out to less than six figures. It's not until you factor in extraneous fees tied to the vehicle—such as taxes, license, and insurance—that the vehicle's price reaches that undesirable milestone. The 2018 Ram 3500 Limited is one such vehicle.

When building the Crew Crab 4x4 version on Ram's official website, the fully loaded ones come out to $83,500. Those who live in Colorado or Connecticut have to pay some of the highest taxes and registration fees, estimated at around $14,500. That brings the truck up to about $98,000 for those daring enough to get this truck in those states.

13 Nissan Titan XD

via Car and Driver

The Nissan Titan XD is a major contender for the crown. It's also a contender for one of the priciest pickups out there today. According to Motor1, a fully loaded 2017 Diesel Platinum Reserve 4WD Crew Cab model can go for as much as $85,800.

Add on top of that the taxes, the title, and the registration fees in some states, and it manages to speed past the six-figure finish line. For most buyers, however, it's a finish line they'd rather not cross. Many like to add these luxury options because they raise the owner's status, but to the rest of us, they appear gratuitous.

12 GMC 1500 Sierra Denali

via CNET

The GMC 1500 Sierra is already on this list, but the Denali version is slightly more. For those purchasing in Canada—according to Driving—a fully loaded one comes out to $88,200. When one factors in additional tax and title costs, it's within distance of the big six-figure milestone.

With optional add-ons that can total $3,000 to $4,000 a pop, it's no wonder the price gets such a boost. While more frugal buyers are going to hesitate, richer buyers won't. These optional features are what help drivers stand out from all the other pickups on the road today.

11 Ram Limited Tungsten Editions

via Ask Auto Experts

The trims are usually what push a pickup truck price into the six-figure digits. For a major truckmaker like Ram, they're going to offer a number of trims. Some of their trims include the Sport, Big Horn, Laramie, and Rebel options. Then there are limited-edition offerings like the Tungsten models. When combining limited-edition offerings with high-end trims, the end result can be a really expensive truck.

According to Automotive News, a 2018 Ram 3500 Laramie Limited Tungsten 4x4 starts above $85,000. When fully loaded, along with taxes and more, the truck comes close to $100,000, which is more than most are willing and able to spend.

10 Ford F-150 Raptor Custom EAA AirVenture

via Motor Authority

This special Ford F-150 may not be in mass production, but it's a special one Ford made. According to Fox News, Ford created this special pickup for the Experimental Aircraft Association's Young Eagles, a foundation dedicated to teaching kids about flying and more.

While the truck technically went up for auction, it's still a special-edition Raptor that Ford made and sold to the highest bidder. In the end, someone ended up going home with it for $300,000, which is about six times the cost of a basic one. Part of what makes this Raptor special is the paint job that’s intended to mimic fighter jets.

9 Ram 3500 Laramie Longhorn Southfork

via Motor1

Some Ram trucks push the limits of what automobile luxury is all about. The 2018 Ram 3500 Laramie Longhorn sporting the Southfork package is one such model. Southfork includes some extra flourishes like suede in parts of the upholstery, a "bezel-walnut veneer" on the front controls, and more, according to the Ram website. It's a lavish makeover sure to tempt anyone with big bucks.

When building a fully loaded Southfork Ram 3500 edition on Ram’s website, the cost comes close to $80,000. Adding taxes, title fees, and more will push this well past the $90,000 mark in several states, making this one of the priciest trucks out there.

8 Ford F-350 Limited

via Ricart Ford

There are two ways one can feel while building a truck on one of the major truck dealers' web pages: either really poor or really bored. The bored are well off and wish there were more options available, while those who feel poor are easily priced out. Building a truck on Ford’s official website, a 2019 F-350 Limited fully loaded reaches close to $85,000.

In some states, where the taxes and title costs can add another $14,000 more to the bill, the costs associated with this truck land somewhere near $100,000. It's not the quality of the pickup anyone doubts but the likelihood of ever paying off such a truck in one’s lifetime.

7 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD LTZ Midnight Edition

via Automobile Magazine

Where a truck is sold can influence the ultimate cost of a vehicle. The Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD LTZ, as GM Authority details, sells in the Land Down Under for the equivalent of $104,000 USD. Part of what makes up for the added cost is the infotainment system and the Bose system that'll have drivers feeling like they're lounging in their living room. In reality, though, they'll be cruising around on the road in their new Chevy.

There's even a Midnight Edition for an extra $4,000 with a whole different look on the outside. There can't be too many of these on the road today, adding that much more to the owners' status.

6 Ford F-450 Super Duty Platinum

via Motor Trend

Most of the add-ons and packages Ford offers on their F-150 trucks are gratuitous. Everyone wants them, but who really needs well-liners for their wheels? It always depends on the setting and circumstances, but you can't blame Ford for trying to sell more. The 2019 F-450 Platinum fully loaded comes close to $90,000 when calculated on Ford's official shop online.

When one factor in those lovely taxes, insurance, and license fees, the cost is going to go up. Those will push the price closer to, if not more than, $100,000. This assumes the owner lives in a state that charges somewhere in the mid-range.

5 Bremach T-Rex

via Gas2.org

A pickup by Bremach is gaining attention not just for its performance but for the price as well. While Gas2 confirms that this massive machine is rugged and will stand the test of time, they also detail a massive price tag. According to that source, the Italian-made truck is $120,000 for the basic version.

The more premium model is a hybrid, which is either going to interest or turn off buyers. It’s another $20,000 for the hybrid one, though. For that kind of innovation, it’s hard to argue the price.

4 Hennessey VelociRaptor

via slashgear.com

The Ford F-150 Raptor made an enormous impression on truck enthusiasts. Now, there's a new variation of the Raptor out on the market. It's not exactly by Ford, but it's still a pickup that's available to anyone who has the money. The Hennessey VelociRaptor 6x6 is a mean machine concept that, according to the official website Hennessey Performance, can deliver 600 horsepower.

That's an improvement over the standard Raptor, thanks to an intercooler that boosts power. Alas, great things don't come cheap. This engineering wonder will set buyers back a whole $350,000. Granted, Hennessey Performance makes a convincing argument that it's cheaper for more horsepower than the Mercedes-Benz 6x6 detailed elsewhere on this list.

3 Ford F-150 Tonka

via Pinterest

For those who dreamed of owning a real-life Tonka truck similar to the ones they played with as a kid, this Ford F-150 is the closest thing yet. While it's not exactly an edition offered right out of Ford's factory, it's a custom "special edition" model that Tim Ford's North Georgia Ford offers.

According to Autotrader, the shop from Blue Ridge, Georgia, will make drivers' childhood dreams come true for the meager price of $110,000, which is the most expensive toy they'll probably ever own. Considering the look and style of the vehicle, it's hard to even argue such a steep price.

2 USSV Rhino GX

via Automobile Magazine

This next one is a minor cheat, considering it's technically an SUV, though it's one built on a Ford F-450 chassis, according to Fox Sports. Unless someone lives in a war zone, the Rhino GX might be excessive, especially for the cost. Fox Sports notes that US Specialty Vehicles sells this mammoth for $165,000.

This, sporting a rigid armor that looks straight out of war movie, looks more like a tank than it does an SUV. We think this would make a great candidate to replace the Pope's protective popemobile. Then again, the vehicle is really expensive and may not be practical to own.

1 Mercedes-AMG G63

via Wallpaper UP

The price tag of this next one will raise people's heart rate—until they realize it's a Mercedes-Benz. This 2018 AMG G63 is the 6x6 monster truck enthusiasts dream about and think automakers are too scared to release. Now, they don't have to wonder if it exists anymore.

The AMG G63 is the real deal, able to deliver a whopping 700 hp, as per The Drive. Here's where the price tag becomes as equally bonkers as the horsepower: according to Motor Authority, as of 2015, the listed price was at $975,000. Sadly, there's more bad news: the truck is rare and was never released in the U.S., so it's up to owners to put them on the used market.
