Oh yes, Tyson did in fact drive his Ferrari through a convenience store window. He opened up to US Weekly about the incident.“My favourite [encounter with the law] I would have to say is when I bought a Ferrari and I didn’t know how to drive the Ferrari and it was idling and it went through a window,” he said. “The glass window? It went through it. My car went through the glass window, and I had to get [taken in] because of property damage.” The car was on reverse and out went the store window. Oh Mike!

These days Floyd Mayweather is the new king of the luxury rides with Ferraris, Bugattis and Rolls-Royce models filling up his garage. Back in the '80s, Tyson bought the Lamborghini LM002, which might be the equivalent to the Mercedes G-Class... well, at least back in the day.

What makes this purchase so unique is the rarity of the vehicle. Ultimately only 328 were produced between 1986 to 1993. Tyson was one of the few to ride this Lamborghini SUV according to Car Keys. As for Floyd his response to this car might be his son’s Bentley Golf cart...

As we discussed earlier in the article one of the few differences between these two is the fact that Tyson has purchased some massive SUVs in the past while Mayweather really hasn’t. Along with the Lambo truck earlier Tyson also bought and forgot a Cadillac Escalade. It was a trendi vehicle back in the day though we can’t say the same for this day and age. Tyson would also become one of the many athletes to purchase a Hummer H2. Now it isn’t the most luxurious car in his garage but one that was a popular choice back in the day. There is no denying the car was an attention grabber back then. These days it grabs attention for all the wrong reasons.

via drivemag.com

This is another car model Floyd and Mike do not have in common. This is likely due to the fact that Jaguar doesn’t have the same name recognition in the 2000s compared to the 70s, 80s and 90s.

Tyson purchased a couple of Jaguar models back in the day.

This was one of the more memorable purchases given the rare body type of the Jaguar E-type. The car is recognized for being one of the top Jags ever created; it was also featured in a variety of films such as Austin Powers. You know the car is a good one when Enzo Ferrari gave it some high praise. Unfortunately production ended in the mid-70s. Tyson was lucky enough to have purchased the car.

Long before Tyson drove his Ferrari through a glass window he was enjoying life in one of his first rides, the Cadillac Seville. It was one of the first luxury cars he would drive. He also utilized the Cadillac Eldorado just prior.

via topspeed.com

Tyson went off the grid with this car purchase. Floyd might be envious considering he never bought an Aston Martin. In terms of athlete comparables NFL great Tom Brady is one of the very few to have purchased various Aston-Martins. It also helps when you’re a sponsor for the car as well. This car type made its debut in the mid 70s and ended production as of the early 90s. If Mike is feeling a little nostalgic he can always buy the revived 2014 model that was exclusively sold in the Middle East. Concept designs have also been created on what the car might look like these days. Let’s just say it might be too futuristic for Tyson’s liking.

via pistonheads.com

Say what you must about the vehicle however you cannot deny that it catches anyone’s attention even to this day. It was a popular ride back in the 90s among several athletes and that includes Mr. Tyson.

Although Mike hasn’t bought a Ferrari in quite some time, Floyd is definitely carrying on that tradition.

Mayweather added to his stunning Ferrari collection with two rides. Both are LaFerrari models. Floyd purchased a modified white pearl type along with the classic red color model scheme. The cost of those cars, over $3 million each!

via 2040cars.com

Back in the 90s the top Lamborghini ride was the Lamborghini Diablo. Despite the fact that under 3,000 units were produced Tyson managed to buy two of them – we’ll discuss the other ride a little later. One of the purchases took place in 1996 when he bought a yellow Super Diablo. Perhaps in paying homage to Tyson Mayweather bought a yellow Murcielago back in 2009. It was one of his first major luxury purchases. Mayweather later upgraded to the Aventador. Both these famous boxers have two Lamborghini purchases from their pasts.

This was Mike’s second Ferrari purchase coming from the package deal we discussed earlier in the article. The 456 was a popular vehicle choice back in the 90s and into the 2000s. Ferrari created lots of units with over 3,000 produced. Mike was one of the more popular owners of the car. Again Floyd knows a thing or two when it comes to Ferrari models. via rmsothebys.com

Mayweather loves to indulge on various Bugattis. Tyson did not pick up on that trend however he did buy a really fast Jaguar back in the 2000, the XJ220.

Mike was becoming a lesser known name at that point with various personal struggles.

However he was still banking in on some memorable gigs - one of which came in 1998 when he appeared at a WrestleMania event. Billionaire WWE owner Vince McMahon forked over some serious cash for the appearance - some of the money might have went to this stunning ride. Among his first big purchase came in the late 1980s, the car is the 1989 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class 560SL. Ironically Floyd’s first major car purchase was also a Mercedes and one he has kept to this day. It isn’t the most expensive car in Floyd’s garage however it does have the most sentimental value. The vehicle is a 1996 Mercedes Benz 600S. Despite the fact that it is over two decades old that car remains in tremendous condition with only 30K miles.

This car purchase took place during a troubling time in Tyson’s career. According to Car Keys the vehicle got impounded and Tyson would serve a minor jail sentence. He bought the vehicle in the early 90s - this coming off the heels of his most devastating loss to one Buster Douglas. As for Floyd he has a history of purchasing Mercedes vehicles though they might not be his favorite car type. Mayweather purchased the Mercedes Benz SLS AMG. Now this might be due to the fact that he owns one too many cars but he forgot about this ride as it was found at an Atlanta airport. After driving himself with the ride he forgot all about the car. Tyson might have underwent a similar situation during the late 80s, early 90s.

6 Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster

via rmsothebys.com

It definitely did not resemble a classic Roadster or one Shaq might purchase. Instead this 2000 version is considered a rare gem of a vehicle. According to Super Cars only 30 models were created for this millennium version. Tyson was one of the select few to own the blue version of the ride. As if that wasn’t enough he bought the Jaguar XJ220 right around the same time. Although he wasn’t the same boxer at that point he was certainly still spending as if he was. Floyd can attest to that as well, though in his defense the guy never lost a single fight!

via pinterest.com

Looking at this car today it doesn’t look like Mike’s top car purchase however back in the day this model was a big deal. It isn’t a collectors BMW item today however. Any BMW enthusiast can purchase the vehicle for slightly above $20,000. Even the mint condition version of this car goes for just above $50,000. It was Tyson’s only BMW purchase. Surprisingly Mayweather also hasn’t shown much interest in the car type either throughout his long spending spree. Instead he opted to buy a Mercedes purchasing his son a stunning ride from the car company in celebration of his birthday.

via topspeed.com

This two seated vehicle rose to popularity back in the late 80s. This at the same time as Tyson’s rise to fame and arguably performance peek of his career. However unlike their other sports car purchases these types of vehicle are more “cruise” type cars and not meant to push the gas. At least that’s the case with the Rolls-Royce Corniche, a classic luxury cruise mobile.

For what it’s worth Rolls Royce made a special 2000 version.
