Buying a car is something that everyone strives to do at some point in their life. Some get their first when they are in high school, and continue to trade up as the years pass by. However, cars can get expensive. In today’s market, many struggle to afford a modest car, let alone something fancy and expensive. Difficulties with poor credit can also make it tough to get an auto loan for a modest car, leaving many potential buyers without a chance to drive the car of their dreams for a few months.

Luckily for these buyers, expensive cars often depreciate greatly once driven for a couple of years, giving average people a chance to own an above-average car. These cars may have high miles, they may be older, and they may be in need of some engine work, but they are still excellent cars available for a reasonable price. Even someone with poor credit will be able to afford them.

Although these cars can be cheap, their price tag is the only affordable thing about them. When buying a used car that was originally expensive, maintenance costs are expected to be high. Sure, you may be getting an $80,000 car for a lot less than the original sticker price, but you’ll also be maintaining and servicing at a level that reflects the original price. So while these cars may appear affordable, remember to keep the maintenance costs in mind. (Pricing, mileage, and model year are taken from national AutoTrader listings).

20 2006 Ferrari F430 Spider - $90,000

Ryan Freidman Motorworks

The 2006 Ferrari F430 Spider has the highest price of any used car on this list, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a bargain.

Its original MSRP was about $192,000, and while it is now 12 years old, it’s still roughly $100,000 cheaper than it was when it debuted.

The example we found on Autotrader had 55,000 miles, enough to make any buyer cringe. Its 4.3-liter V8 engine is likely temperamental and costly to service, but a relatively modern Ferrari at this price is quite a deal. As with many cars on this list, it may not be a wise investment… but it will easily be one of the most fun.

19 2004 Lamborghini Gallardo - $70,000

via YouTube

This 2004 Lamborghini Gallardo is just as crazy as the Ferrari, although it won’t set you back quite as much. At $70,000, it is by no means cheap, but buyers looking to finance a new Lambo won’t have to try quite as hard with this one.

Examples we found had about as many miles as this car, sitting at 47,500. While this is by no means a good amount of miles for this type of car, it is less than the Ferrari has. Dare we say that a Lamborghini is a bargain? With an original MSRP of $167,000, this V10 monster has a lot to offer, albeit with questionable reliability.

18 2009 Audi R8 - $52,000

via DeviantArt

If you’re a buyer looking for an AWD German coupe with a 4.2-liter V8 engine, look no further than a 2009 Audi R8. The example we found has 68,000 miles, which is quite high. German engines can be hit or miss when it comes to reliability. While they are expensive to service no matter what, sometimes (with a little TLC) they can last quite a long time. Other times, they end up costing their owners a fortune in maintenance costs.

Given that the original MSRP of this R8 was $123,000, it stands to reason that this car will cost a bit to maintain.

But, since it only costs $52,000, that leaves you with a bit of wiggle room for those costs.

17 2009 Nissan GTR - $48,000

via Car and Driver

The GTR is one of the most notorious bargain supercars. Ever since their debut, they have been able to best cars with far more pedigree and higher price tags without a problem. For just $48,000, this 2009 GTR could be yours. Its 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 will propel you past the completion, quite literally leaving them in your dust.

This GTR only has 54,000 miles on the odometer, and that really isn’t too bad given that Japanese cars are famed for being incredibly reliable. With an original MSRP of $79,000, this car is all kinds of bargain, and is one of the few on this list that won’t run up an insane repair bill.

16 2013 Tesla Model S - $39,500

via MotorTrend

The Tesla Model S is a car that buyers have lusted over since its inception, and thanks to depreciation, it can be yours for a reasonable price. With an original MSRP of about $57,000, the Model S was out of the price range of the average consumer.

The example we found on AutoTrader rings in at $39,500, which is certainly a bit higher than what is comfortable for most people, but that is much more affordable than the original price.

Practicality, speed, refinement, and eco-friendliness await drivers at a price that is within reach given financing… even to those with poor credit.

15 2006 Dodge Viper SRT-10 Roadster - $38,000

via Autogespot

Here we have another crazy V10 coupe for a reasonable price: a 2006 Viper SRT-10 Roadster. This may not be something you’ll drive to work every day, but it will certainly put a smile on your face when you get behind the wheel. For just $38,000, this piece of American automotive history could be yours. With just 25,000 miles, this is the least-driven car on this list.

With an original MSRP of $87,000, the owner should have gotten more use out of their purchase, but now it’s your turn. With all of the power at your disposal, this is sure to be a great bargain and is much more affordable now than it once was.

14 2006 Aston Martin V8 Vantage Coupe - $34,500

via Consumer Guide Auto

Cars with six-figure price tags are often unattainable for most buyers unless you look at this 2006 Aston Martin V8 Vantage Coupe. Available on AutoTrader for just $34,500, the cheap coupe will leave you with enough extra money to spend on its extraordinarily high maintenance bills. With 62,000 miles on the dash, this Aston has seen its fair share of use, but who can blame the owner when they have a powerful British V8 at their disposal.

An original MSRP of $110,000 gives you refinement, luxury, and speed for less than a family SUV.

A warranty is advised with this purchase, but you may have so much fun behind the wheel that you won’t care.

13 2014 Jaguar F-Type S – $32,000

via Silver Arrow Cars Ltd.

This surprisingly new Jaguar makes an appearance on our list. For $32,000 you can pick up a 2014 Jaguar F-Type S on Autotrader, and the one we found on has 45,000 miles on it. A well-crafted 3.0-liter V6 engine attached to a superbly euphoric sport exhaust is as pleasing to the ear as it is to the eye.

With an original MSRP of $69,000, this Jaguar was not at all cheap when it debuted, but now it is affordable and runs even cheaper than a well-optioned Honda Accord. Most of us would rather have the Jag, and with financing, it could certainly be attainable.

12 2007 Audi RS 4 Sedan - $24,000

via Audi Lovers

Here is a somewhat more practical ride than the aforementioned Italian supercars: an unassuming 2007 Audi RS4 sedan. This is a great all-around ride: fast, fun to drive, sporty, and practical.

It has a roaring V8 motor that, according to AutoTrader, can be yours for just $24,000.

While expensive to service, some old Audis are known to be fairly reliable when serviced properly. Originally $69,000, this Audi won’t be cheap to run, especially with 91,000 miles on it. However, it is guaranteed to drive well and give you more happiness than an equally priced Accord would, although you may drive with a bit more care.

11 2009 Maserati Quattroporte - $23,000

via Auto Evolution

Another powerful Italian car makes this list, perhaps unsurprisingly: the 2009 Maserati Quattroporte. It boasts a muscular 4.2-liter V8, which is more than enough to entice potential buyers. It’s no surprise that this fast sedan once cost $120,000, as it is very luxuriously equipped. However, it can be had by the average person via AutoTrader for just $23,000.

Although it has 67,000 miles, the burble of the Maserati’s exhaust and the rush of acceleration will make you ignore the odometer. While this may not be the most reliable or economical sedan to drive to work, it will be the talk of the water cooler.

10 2009 Mercedes C63 AMG Sedan - $20,000

via Autoform

It’s no surprise to see another once-expensive German car on this list, as they tend to depreciate incredibly quickly. Originally about $65,000, the Mercedes C63 AMG sedan is an enticing deal to buyers, as we found one listed on AutoTrader for about $20,000.

This is an incredible deal, getting you a powerful 6.2-liter V8 that is notorious for violently twisting axles and shredding tires, in the best of ways.

This Mercedes has done plenty of that, for 76,000 miles. While the Ferrari and Lamborghini on this list are insane cars, the AMG is right up there with them. These are some of the most notoriously overpowered, tail-happy rides out there, complete with a scorching exhaust note.

9 2007 BMW M5 - $19,000

via AutoEvolution

This 2007 BMW M5 is the cheapest V10 that you are going to find on this list, no matter your credit rating. BMWs are famously expensive to service and sometimes unreliable, so tread carefully.

It’s not likely that an 11-year-old German V10 engine is without any issues, but most buyers would be happy to ignore that for this example, listed at $19,000 on AutoTrader. Clocking in at 77,000 miles, the Germans made this car well enough to last a decently long time. Originally costing a whopping $83,000, this fine piece of German engineering can be had for a very reasonable price.

8 2008 BMW M3 - $15,000

via Super Street

Somewhat similar to the M5, the M3 is another well-equipped and powerful German sedan. The 2008 BMW M3 that we found only costs $15,000, making it a bargain over the M5. The M3, particularly older variants, are regarded as some of the best cars to drive due to their rear wheel drive configuration, powerful V8 engines, and refined chassis.

With an original MSRP of $56,000, they were out of the price range of most drivers. However, with 118,000 miles on the odometer, this M3 is finally affordable to the majority of drivers.

Especially with financing, there is almost nothing stopping you from getting behind the wheel of this premium sports sedan.

7 2005 Chevrolet Corvette - $13,500

via Pinterest

There is plenty of American muscle towards the end of this list. Luckily for us, American sports cars tend to be relatively cheaper than their European counterparts and offer outstanding bargains for buyers on the used car market.

For instance, this 2005 Corvette can be had for just $13,500. For this price, buyers get a massively powerful 6.0-liter V8 engine and a car that originally cost $51,000. Although this Corvette has 136,000 miles on it, it should be fairly reliable and if it turns out to be a dud, the parts should be reasonable as this is a domestic car.

6 2004 Porsche Boxster S - $12,500

via AutoEvolution

This German roadster is quite the bargain. Porsches drive famously well, although their expensive price tags place them out of reach for most of us. When it was released, this 2004 Porsche Boxster S cost $51,000, which isn’t exactly a justifiable purchase.

However, we found an example on AutoTrader for just $12,500. Although it has 62,000 miles on it, Porsches can last a long time if they are taken care of and maintained properly.

Now sure, this may take some cash, but you’ll be riding around in timeless style for less than many of the fancier cars on this list.

5 2011 Infiniti G37 X - $11,500

via Auto House USA

The remaining cars on this list are relatively new, with this 2011 Infiniti G37 X being only seven years old. This just goes to show that you don’t need to spend a ton of money to get a newer ride. Although this Infiniti has 96,000 miles on it, its reliable Japanese V6 engine can likely handle many more.

Infiniti has come a long way in terms of quality, producing some solid vehicles for reasonable prices. When new, this example was $40,000, which is not terribly expensive for what is offered. Buyers looked for a used ride can pick one up for an affordable $11,500.

4 2011 Dodge Challenger SE - $10,000

via Car and Driver

Another American muscle car, the Challenger graces our list. Buyers can easily get a powerful car for a small amount of money, as is true with many used American cars. This 2011 Dodge Challenger SE can be bought for $10,000, which is quite a deal.

This car was originally $26,000, which is significantly cheaper than the MSRP of all the other cars on this list. However, with options, this car can reach above $30,000, so this is quite a deal.

The Challenger that we found has 96,000 miles on it, but given that it has a fairly reliable V6 engine, this should be running for quite a long time.

3 2001 BMW Z3 3.0i Roadster - $10,000

via New Generation Autos

For slightly less than a used Porsche Boxster, buyers can get a different German roadster for a decent price.

This 2001 BMW Z3 3.0i Roadster is a very affordable $10,000, which is a solid price for the car you’re getting.

Originally, it was $35,000. A nimble and powerful two-seater that drives incredibly well is the desire of pretty much all enthusiasts, and for this price it’s hard to say no. Although it has 105,000 miles on it, this Z3 will provide you endless entertainment and joy, until you have to make repairs. Just be sure to save a bit of cash to keep it in good working order and you’ll have the wind in your hair in no time!

2 2012 Cadillac CTS Performance - $9,800

via YouTube

This is one of the newest cars that you’ll find on this list, and it’s certainly a spiffy one. Cadillacs are globally renowned for being the epitome of American luxury, with this 2012 Cadillac CTS Performance being no exception to that rule.

It has driven its owners in style and comfort for 121,000 miles and will hopefully continue that trend with its new owner. With an original MSRP of $49,000, the CTS was an expensive car when it was released. Thanks to high miles, depreciation, and good old capitalism, the CTS can be had for a solid $9,800, according to AutoTrader.

1 2012 Ford Mustang Premium - $9,000

via PinsDaddy.com

Cheapest on this list is this 2012 Ford Mustang Premium. Another American muscle car should come as no surprise to readers as they offer some of the best bargains on the used car market.

For $9,000 you get a powerful V6 engine and one of the most classic muscle cars of all time. Rear wheel drive and a balanced chassis give this car serious appeal, despite its 122,000 miles.

With an original MSRP of $39,000, this AutoTrader listing can be had for roughly a quarter of its original price. Unlike many cars on this list, the Mustang is reliable and will last its new owner a long time with minimal upkeep.
