For more than a century, Ford has played a significant role in the development of the automobile. Its own history is mainly centered on enduring designs like the popular F-150 pickup and the stylish Mustang pony car. In favor of SUVs and crossovers, the Blue Oval brand no longer makes sedan and hatchback models like the Focus and Taurus.

It is now releasing stylish redesigns of well-known SUVs, including the Explorer and Bronco Sport.

One of Ford’s popular Mustang pony cars is the Ford Mustang SVT Cobra.

The SVT Mustang Cobra made a comeback in 2001 with a full 320 horsepower, five new exterior colors, and a number of cosmetic upgrades, including the reappearance of the name COBRA, embossed into the rear fascia, after spending a year off the market. SVT updated the Cobra's interior with new, more comfortable seats and an in-dash CD player.

In order to distinguish themselves from the Standard GT hood, this year's SVT Cobras got a unique Heat Extractor Hood with a crescent hood vent toward the front. When Ford created the potent Terminator Cobra in 2003 and 2004, they removed this hood from the Pony Package V6 Cars.

The back bumper now displays "COBRA" as opposed to "MUSTANG," which was on the 1999 Cars, much like the 1996–1998 Cobras. The term "COBRA," which appeared beneath the SVT emblem on the 1999 vehicles, was removed, and the trunk lid badge now reads "SVT." This made it simple to tell the SVT Cobra from the GT and standard V6 Mustangs.

The SVT Cobra's wheels were 17x8 Silver powder coated, aluminum 5 Spoke wheels in both the 1999 and 2001 models. The identical wheel was available in a Polished Chrome form for the 2001 models. Later, as a Premium Option, these chrome wheels were also installed on the 2003 and 2004 Mustangs.

Ford's Special Vehicle Team extensively modified the Mustang to create the high-performance Ford SVT Mustang Cobra (SVT). The SVT Cobra is available as a coupe or a convertible, and its key distinguishing features are a completely new engine, updated suspension, and a better interior.

A 4.6-liter, 32-valve DOHC V8 provides the Cobra with its firepower. Although the Cobra's engine is based on Ford's family of modular V8s, it is significantly more sophisticated. At 6,000 rpm, the engine generates 320 horsepower, and at 4,750 rpm, it produces 317 ft-lbs of torque.

The block is made of cast aluminum alloy and has a forged-steel crankshaft that is completely counterweighted. The engine's durability is enhanced by aluminum upper main, upper thrust, and rod bearings. Six high-tensile steel bolts secure each main bearing cover, distributing loads across a vast area of the block.

Additionally, the Mustang drives admirably. The suspension of the Mustang makes it possible for the vehicle to be predictable through challenging turns, and side-to-side weight transfers are progressive for increased stability during rapid lane changes.

Additionally outstanding are the handling and braking. However, rough pavement can make the ride uncomfortable because the base and GT models of the Mustang still use a solid rear axle for the rear suspension.

There are several standard safety measures on the 2001 Ford SVT Mustang Cobra. Inside the trunk is an emergency release for the rear decklid. Anyone trapped inside the trunk can unlock it from inside thanks to its luminescent handle, which is visible in the dark.

The safety belt use reminder device from Ford, BeltMinder, detects whether the driver has fastened it or not. When the vehicle is moving and the driver is not buckled up, a warning chime will occasionally sound, and a red light will appear on the instrument panel.

Two child safety seat top-tether anchors that are built into the back seat and that comply with Federal regulations are also on the 2001 SVT Cobra. The "check fuel cap" light also alerts the driver to a loose gas cap.

The 2001 Ford SVT Mustang Cobra's Manufacturer's suggested retail price is $29,235 for the coupe and $33,235 for the convertible. Both prices include delivery and destination fees. The rear spoiler, polished wheels, and floor mats are available as optional equipment for $195, $395, and $25, respectively.

However, you can now buy the car at a way cheaper price. According to KBB, the 2001 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra has a Fair Market Range of $11,275 to $13,998 but it is typically listed at a price of $13,714.
