Ford is issuing two recalls for their EcoSport subcompact crossover and F-650 and 750 commercial trucks.

The recall issued for the tiny EcoSport SUV is for two equally tiny issues that, unfortunately, the law requires Ford to fix. Not that it’ll likely get anyone to actually go to the dealer to fix them.

The first issue is with the brake fluid reservoir cap. Specifically, the cap screwed on to 273 EcoSports is the European-spec version rather than the North American version. In order to comply with US federal vehicle safety standards, the North American version has to be there, otherwise brake fluid could go spilling out all over the place.

Just kidding. It probably works just fine.

"Affected vehicles include 2018 Ford EcoSport vehicles built at Chennai Assembly Plant, Oct. 27, 2017, to March 6, 2018," explains Ford in a statement.

Ford hasn’t been notified of any accidents or injuries as a result of the mixed up brake fluid caps, but just the same your local neighborhood Ford dealer will switch the caps free of charge.

On those same 273 EcoSports, they also mixed up the owners manuals for European ones. If the references to kilometers and liters weren’t already a dead giveaway. Again, dealers will swap them out for free.

On the opposite end of the Ford spectrum is the F-650 and F-750 super huge commercial trucks. Apparently, Ford didn’t tighten the parking brake cable enough at the factory on 151 trucks built between a month period between late March and late April this year.

“The parking brake cable may not have adequate tension,” reads the statement, “which could result in reduced parking brake performance and unintended vehicle movement, increasing the risk of accident or injury.”

Ford recommends putting your enormous truck into the parking gear rather than relying on the parking brake to keep the truck stopped. We’re not aware of a single human being that doesn’t put their vehicle into “park” before getting out, but maybe one or two exist somewhere out there.

Once again, dealers will tighten that cable for you free of charge.
