The SRT Hellcat Redeye is regarded as one of most potent Dodge Challengers so far. It can go as fast as 203 miles per hour. Sadly though, the Hellcat Redeye can’t go full speed on urban streets, as it risks collision with other vehicles. A driver might be able to fully push the pedal of this muscle car to around half a mile. But how fast exactly? Let’s see.

To know the answer to this inevitable question, there is a need to drive a Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye in full throttle over a distance of a half-a-mile. We could leave that task to Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds (JBPG), a company that fact-checks published vehicle performance by doing a real-world straight line aerodynamic testing. JBPG has done this countless times, and just recently, a 2019 SRT Hellcat Redeye took the center lane.

JBPG conducts this testing on a three-mile long ultra-flat runway in Merritt Island, Florida. Test distances vary -- half-mile, 1 mile, 1.5 miles, 2 miles, 2.3 miles, 2.5 miles and 2.7 miles – depending on what sort of data is being extracted. Speeds are usually measured through Garmin and Racelogic interior monitoring systems.

Brought to the runway for the half-mile speed test is a 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye that is wrapped in a blue finish. It is powered by 6.2-liter V8 engine – backed by a 2.7-liter supercharger -- that delivers up to 797 hp of max output and 707 lb.-ft. of peak torque. With power sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Performance-wise, the SRT Hellcat Redeye is capable of reaching 203 mph of top speed. A previous test at JBPG showed a SRT Hellcat Redeye failing to reach this max speed, although it was able to go as fast as 191 mph. The muscle car can dash to a quarter-mile in just 10.8 seconds at a top speed of 131 mph. How about a real-world race to a half-mile?

150 MPH In A Half-Mile

This 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye actually managed to reach 150 mph. According to official results from JBPG, this SRT Hellcat Redeye was able to go as fast as 150.747 mph. That’s already awesome! Perhaps, JPBG can give the SRT Hellcat Redeye a try on the 2.7-mile top speed test.
