Ram has announced pricing for their line of heavy-duty pickup trucks, and they can get pretty pricey.
Big trucks aren’t cheap, which is hardly a surprising statement. What is surprising is that the new 2019 Ram 3500 can set you back over $80,000 if you opt for the top-of-the-line trim with all the fixings.
Thankfully, Ram doesn’t shoehorn you into a higher price bracket. Recently announced pricing reveals that the Ram HD pickup can still be had for a reasonable sum for reasonable people, starting with the Ram 2500 Tradesman.
A 2500 Tradesman with a regular cab and two-wheel-drive starts at just $33,395 plus a $1,695 destination fee, or $35,090 total. That’s not quite as good as the Ford F-250, which starts at $34,745 including destination fee, but it’s a lot better than the Chevy Silverado 2500HD, which starts at $39,095.
Adding the high-output Cummins turbodiesel, a 6.7-L engine with 400 hp and a massive 1,000 lb-ft of torque, will cost you an extra $11,795. However, that’s only available on the Ram 3500, which starts at $34,845 in its cheapest incarnation. That means the cheapest way to get 1,000 lb-ft of torque would be to spend $48,335.

Scooting to the best of the best would be the Ram 3500 Limited Mega Cab 4x4 with 12-inch Uconnect 4C touchscreen. That’ll set you back $67,050 plus destination. Adding the Cummins high-output engine to this truck would bring the price to $80,540. Throw in a few optional extras and you’re well into luxury pickup territory.
On the chassis cab side of the Ram HD, the cheapest comes in at $34,750 plus destination. Ram’s chassis cab pickups boast the highest towing and payload capacity in the segment at 35,100 lbs and 7,680 lbs, respectively.
Base-level engines for the Ram HD is the 6.4-L HEMI V8 with 410 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque and an 8-speed automatic. You can get a 6-speed automatic, but then power drops to 370 horses. The Cummins turbodiesel comes in two flavors: regular at 370 hp and 850 lb-ft, or high-output at 400 hp and 1,000 lb-ft. All types of diesel come connected to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
