Steve Saleen founded Saleen Automotive in 1984 with the simple goal of bringing race car levels of performance to the street. It's something he's very passionate about. And he knows a thing or two about racing as he won his first race in 1973 in a Shelby Mustang before turning his attention to Formula Atlantic cars and open-wheel racing.

In subsequent years, Saleen Automotive cranked out any number of hopped-up Mustangs, hand built supercars such as the S7, and he even had a hand in building the Decepticon "Barricade" in Tranformers 5. It's one of the prettiest cars in the whole lot of them - sorry, Bumblebee!

But sports cars and Mustangs aren't the only thing that Saleen Automotive is known for. They also like to make trucks. Pretty yet mean and brutally fast trucks! Given the long association of Saleen with Ford, they took an F-150 and gave it the Saleen treatment. The current model is the 2019 Saleen Sportruck seen above and below.

As with any of Saleen's cars, there's an almost unlimited range of customization options offered from the mild to the wild. Four levels of enhancement are offered on the 2.7 liter and 3.5 liter turbocharged Ecoboost V-6 engines, a N/A 5.0 liter Coyote V-8, or the top banana 700 hp supercharged 5.0 liter V-8. I'll take one of those, please!

Each Sportruck is also fitted with a full Racecraft suspension setup, a Saleen-exclusive air management system, performance air filter, front brake ducting, a Saleen tuned exhaust with performance mufflers, an engine oil cooler, engine calibration and tune, and rearend gearsets up to 3.73:1. At the corners are a set of Saleen designed and built 22 x 9.5 inch Signature Series Wheels with General Performance tires.

To complement all that go, the show includes a front air dam, racing inspired grille, sculpted performance hood, available side skirts and body kit, and more Saleen badges than you can shake a stick at. And just so you don't forget that you're a member of an exclusive club, Saleen includes a serialized front bumper and Saleen VIN stampings. And she does great smoke shows too. Better pony up and buckle up.
