The 2019 Silverado RST has been spotted on the streets of Michigan without any camouflage to contain its glory.
The 2019 Silverado is coming later this year and it’s bringing with it a few new features. The biggest one is the all-new RST trim, which promises to be the sportiest Silverado yet. For the first time, we get a glimpse of what the new RST trim will look like, and we’re pretty sure this is what you’ll find in dealer rooms if you just wait a few months.
On the surface, the RST trim looks basically the same as the other 2019 Silverados. It’s got a body-colored grille which is painted black rather than hinted with chrome on the slats, and those slats seem a little closer together. The bumper is likewise painted the same color as the body. The chrome may have migrated to the fog lights where they’ve been given a bit of chrome to guard them, but that’s about it for the silver stuff.
The back end is much the same with some roll bars on the bed and an RST badge on the tailgate. This trim looks to be a twin-cab short bed model, so there’s likely to be a regular cab version, and maybe even one with a longer wheelbase.
There’s also a 4x4 badge on the side, so we know the RST will come with four-wheel-drive. Whether it comes in standard rear-wheel-drive remains to be seen, but it seems likely.
The real question is whether or not the RST Silverado gets some performance upgrades. The RST trim first arrived on the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban SUVs, and they got a bunch of goodies along with the three letters that stand for Rally Sport Truck. Goodies like a GM Performance exhaust, six-piston Brembo brake calipers, and magnetorheological suspension.
They also got an optional 6.2-L V8, but the Silverado already has that. Maybe the RST Silverado will get a supercharger? The lack of bulge in the hood and any additional venting seems to indicate not, but we can always dream.
