The 2020 Lincoln Aviator has just been revealed with an advanced suite of features and nearly 500 horsepower.

We’ve been waiting for this day for months, and now that it’s finally here we’ve got a lot of ground to cover. Starting under the hood, the 2020 Lincoln Aviator comes with a 3.0-L twin-turbo V6 engine that produces 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque, which should be plenty for a luxury SUV. But there’s more: opt for the higher-trimmed Grand Touring Aviator and you’ll get an electric motor that adds 94 horsepower and 215 lb-ft of torque for a total of 494 hp and 630 lb-ft.

With a 75 kW electric motor connected to a 13.6 kWh battery pack, the Aviator can be driven to either use the gas engine primarily to preserve battery power and even recharge the battery up to 75% or it can be driven purely on the electric motor for zero gas usage at all. Obviously, this will limit the Aviator’s power but should be more than enough for urban travel or a jaunt to the corner store.

On the suspension side, you have your regular adaptive suspension, your adaptive suspension with Road Preview which uses a camera to determine incoming potholes up to 50 feet ahead, or the new Air Glide suspension that replaces traditional springs with air. This also allows the Aviator to lower itself for easier entry and exit.

Next, we have technology and lots of it. Phone As A Key allows owners to replace traditional key fobs with their own cell phones, while The Lincoln Way app provides unparalleled connectivity to check and control your car from almost anywhere in the world. Co-Pilot360 provides a useful suite of driver-assist technologies while the available Co-Pilot360 Plus option provides adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, evasive emergency steering, and automatic parking.

On the inside, Revel Ultima 3D Audio System provides 360 degrees of audio bliss that isn't interrupted by harsh alerts or warning sounds. Every chime played on the Aviator was recorded by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, which makes forgetting to buckle up a symphonic experience.

Expect the new Aviator to arrive at dealers soon.
