The current generation of Mazda’s most beloved two-seat roadster, the MX-5 Miata, has been on the road since 2015. The fourth generation (ND) of Mazda’s iconic sports car is now entering the 2020 model year with more amenities while remaining pure, lightweight and fun to drive. Let's take a look what's new for 2020.

As Good As It Has Always Been

Mazda is offering the latest iteration of the MX-5 Miata in three versions: Sport (base), Club (sporty) and Grand Touring (luxurious). All versions of the MX-5 Miata are powered by the Japanese carmaker’s renowned Skyactiv-G 2.0-liter engine that delivers up to 181 hp of max output and 151 lb.-ft. of peak torque. It can be mated to either a Skyactiv-MT six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.

A Brembo/BBS Recaro Package is available for the manual variant of the MX-5 Club. This package – which includes Brembo front brakes, heated Recaro Sports Seats, BBS 17-inch Dark Gunmetal forged wheels and black aerodynamics kit – is available at $4,470 for the soft top version and $4,670 for the RF model.

Meanwhile, the range-topping MX-5 Grand Touring model (manual version only) now comes standard with a sport-tuned suspension, Bilstein dampers, limited-slip differential and front shock tower brace. Mazda is offering a Red Nappa leather interior for the MX-5 Grand Touring for an additional $300.

The Mazda MX-5 Sport is available only with soft top, while the MX-5 Club and MX-5 Grand Touring versions are offered either in a soft top or a retractable fastback (RF) configuration. Of course, the RF configuration is more expensive than the soft top models, with a premium of $3,755. The retractable roof of the MX-5 RF versions can be opened or closed in just 13 seconds, allowing occupants to shift from a convertible to coupe (and vice versa) in no time!
