Car buying shouldn’t be just a necessity but also a thrilling experience. One way to take the sting out of car shopping is finding a vehicle that sparks our interest in terms of appearance. Color isn’t a vital asset to have but it does put a smile on our faces when a car sports our favorite shade of red. Most drivers prefer to purchase cars with neutral colors such as tan, blue, white and black. Of course, those are all boring colors!

Every year, automakers unveil the next car color trend they suspect drivers will either love or hate based on the demographic. This year, there’s just no telling what automotive paint companies will come up with next. Here are 10 of the most unique car colors for 2020!

10 10. Nitro Yellow - 2020 Toyota Supra

Neutral colors are still a top choice for many car buyers but in recent years, there’s been a demand for new tones. Toyota is certainly in the lead for offering drivers 8 new color palette options, given the launch of their 2020 Supra model. The car features loud and bold colors, which are consistent with the style of the car itself. These include Absolute Zero White, Nocturnal Black, Renaissance Red 2.0, Phantom Matte Gray, Tungsten Silver, Turbulent Gray, Nitro Yellow, and Downshift Blue. Out of the eight new tones, two will have an additional cost; the “Phantom Matte Gray will set us back at another $1,200 while the Nitro Yellow is more reasonable, at $400 extra.” All Special Edition models will be offered in only three of the colors, which are Nocturnal Black, Nitro Yellow, and Renaissance Red. Not only do the new colors look amazing but the names are pretty dope!

9 9. Glowing Yellow - 2020 Hyundai Sonata

Toyota isn’t the only automaker that’s off to a great start this upcoming year - Hyundai is also at the top of their game. The automotive giant has recently completed a facelift for its best-selling model, the 2020 Hyundai Sonata, which is set to be unveiled this fall. Customers will immediately notice that the model looks completely unrecognizable from previous models.

It comes with all new features that’ll surprise drivers, such as forward and rear-drive collision braking systems. The Sonata’s safety feature comes equipped with a total of 3 radar sensors, 5 cameras, and an insane 13 ultrasonic sensors. But the new gadgets weren’t the only upgrades that received raised eyebrows. The Sonata’s new color options have caused quite the commotion, especially the striking Glowing Yellow palette. In photos, it appears more metallic and less shimmery, as the name indicates, but Hyundai is getting the attention it wants.

8 8. Twister Orange Metallic - 2020 Shelby Mustang GT500

The new 2020 Ford Mustang is that classic “cool-guy car” everyone can’t stop talking about. This year, the automaker unveiled the 2020 Shelby Mustang GT500 at the 2019 Ford Nationals in Pennsylvania, along with a new color palette for the 2020 year. Not only is the new variant wicked fast and better than previous Mustang models, but the colors are out of this world. Among the several tones to choose from, the Twister Orange Metallic looks the best on the new model. It actually pays homage to the late 1970 Mustang Twister Special, when the Mustang models produced during that year were available only in one color, the Grabber Orange. Though lighter and more modern-looking, the Twister Orange Metallic is a color that no fast car fanatic will be able to resist.

7 7. Lagoon Silver - 2020 Hyundai Palisade

A splash of color may change a driver’s driving experience altogether, making for an enjoyable and exciting ride. This year Hyundai has not only unveiled one new model with awesome color options, but also a second one. The all new 2020 Hyundai Palisade is coming to a dealership this summer and it comes with a whole slew of monotone finishes.

Among the several color options available is the Lagoon Silver, a lighter shade of grey with a moon-like sheen to it. Usually, tones of grey come in metallic silver or boring darker shades in general but the Lagoon Silver might be a hit.

6 6. Lantana Purple - 2020 McLaren 600LT

Automakers obviously value millennial’s opinions about the car market but at what point does color go too far? This 2020 McLaren 600LT bears a muted - yet flashy - shade of purple that’s basically asking for attention from other drivers. The color, known as Lantana Purple is meant for drivers who love to push boundaries. While there are cars with even brighter hues such as the Mustang’s Twister Metallic Orange and the Supra’s Nitro Yellow, no one’s even seen a car in all purple since the 2016 Jeep Wrangler. Then again, some drivers do drive around in candy-pink convertibles.

5 5. Rally Green "Shock" - 2020 Chevrolet Camaro

When it comes to trendy automotive colors, none could beat this car’s 2019 green tint. Literately called Shock, the new green hue ruled as king over Chevrolet’s Camaro sixth-generation lineup for the 2019 year and it had many positive reviews. The color gained so much recognition that it led to a major redesign of the Camaro’s front-end.

With the addition of stylistic changes, came new colors for the 2020 year as well, such as Rally Green. Similar to the pony car's rival, the Shelby Mustang, the color option is a throwback from the time it was available for the 1968 and 1969 models. Chevy’s new Rally Green, without a single doubt, will sell just as fast as the 2019 Shock.

4 4. Undercover Green - KIA Soul

Oddly enough, it seems that green is in the running for being one of the year’s best color options available for any car. While the Chevy Camaro’s Rally Green is awesome, the 2020 KIA Soul is joining the ranks with their new color palette. In total, the brand is introducing customers to 8 new colors. Among the brightly colored-tones is the Undercover Green. In previous years, the KIA has offered a paint finish similar to the Undercover Green that was much lighter and fun-spirited in comparison, though this darker tone could be a hit amongst customers. The muted and toned-down vibe of the color might just be what serious drivers are looking for. After all, there’s still a large percentage of car owners seeking vehicles with darker shades or neutral colors. Sadly enough, though, the Undercover Green finish is offered on only two models this year; the EX and X-Line model. Green lovers better get this color option while it’s hot!

3 3. Infrared Red - 2019 Lexus ES

Economy and fast cars aren’t the only vehicles getting all the attention though. Luxury vehicles, like the 2019 Lexus ES, have offered new color options as well. The Lexus automakers gained so much praise for their 2019 Lexus ES model, especially with the launch of their new palette colors, the Moonbeam Beige Metallic and Sunlit Green. These hues were unlike anything ever seen on a car, whereas the color finishes “mimicked light reflecting off fresh snow and the other replicates the tint of the ocean water brightened by the sun.” The engineers worked hard to make the car’s color showcase nature at its finest. Sadly enough, these cool colors were not offered for this upcoming 2020 year.

Instead, the automaker has rolled out another round of colors for their 2020 Lexus RC, some of which include an Infrared Red, Flare Yellow and weirdly enough, a darker tintcoat called Caviar? While the Infrared Red looks best on the Lexus RC, 2019 color options for the ES model were way cooler!

2 2. Atlas Blue - 2020 Ford Explorer

Speaking of new color options, lighter shades of blue have become popular in the 2019 and 2020 years. In particular, the all-new 2020 Ford Explorer’s Atlas Blue exterior isn’t a shade normally sported by this car brand, but the change of pace is refreshing. It’s presented as a fun and thrilling version of the darker shades customers are used to. The color name and overall hue just breathe summer vibes! Car buyers need to invest in the ocean-breeze, blue hue before they’re all gone!

1 1. Espresso Metallic - 2020 Buick Evision

Just about every car color has a shine to it, which is satisfying when viewing any car. The first thought that comes to mind is “polished and sophisticated”, a feature that most drivers look for in a vehicle. When Buick decided to name a new car color palette Espresso Metallic, most drivers were left scratching their heads. Brown and metallic are on opposite ends of the color wheel. They don’t match at all, or so, drivers thought. When the 2019 Buick Envision received a big upgrade, no one thought the midsize crossover was getting any additional tune-ups. The automakers surprised us this year with two new color options available for their 2020 models, offering Dark Moon Blue Metallic and of course, the Espresso Metallic. Is it just us or is Buick obsessed with the adjective ‘metallic’? Have to admit that the deep bronze adds another layer of sophistication and sportiness to the brand new 2020 Buick Envision. Who knew brown could look so good?
