The 2020 Nissan GT-R Nismo is coming soon and after 10 years of Nissan perfecting it, the vehicle’s performance is finally at the top of its game. The team over at Motor Authority took the new street legal track car for a spin and got some firsthand experience - here are all the important highlights.

Impressive, Incredible Performance

The 2020 Nissan GT-R Nismo is outfitted with an engine that isn’t new to the vehicle: a 3.6L V6 with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission. The engine may not be new, but there have been upgrades to elements of it to ensure the Nismo always outperforms everything else on the road. For example, the new 10-vane turbines make for a 24% more responsive and stable ride. All-wheel drive and a new Race Mode also help make for exciting ride experience enhancers.

Not Picture Perfect

While the looks and performance of the 2020 Nismo are awe-inspiring, it’s worth noting that it isn’t quite a perfect vehicle yet. It’s been noted that the gorgeous red and black Recaro seats are a little bit of a tight squeeze for taller folks. There’s also been a few notable downgrades on equipment, such as the plastic paddle shifters on the back of the steering wheel. Many drivers also find the 6-speed transmission to be a little dated for a vehicle of this caliber, but we think Nissan has upgraded it enough to make it work.

When the Nismo was first introduced in 2007, it went for an MSRP of about $70,000. However, if you’re looking to get your hands on one of these new and improved 2020 models, prepare to spend at least $212,435 after destination charges. Of course there are special upgrades that will run you slightly more as well. It may be a steep price, but you get what you pay for with the GT-R Nismo.
