The world is changing every day and one thing that is changing very quickly is that of how we get around and what powers our cars. The electric era has well and truly started, with car manufacturers all over the world slowly migrating to an almost solely electric future. One company that has led the way when it comes to EVs is Audi. The German company has developed cars such as the e-Tron Quattro, and now Marc Lichte, Head of Audi Design, has spoken about the new e-Tron GT that is set to be officially unveiled in February.

In a Q&A session that formed part of an Audi press-release, Lichte spoke of the looks of the new e-Tron GT and how excited he was that the car is soon to be revealed. He said, “The presentation of a new car is the culmination of a development process that usually takes four years. It is a long road that involves a great deal of work, many discussions, and difficult decisions at times.” One thing that many people are keen on is to see the final design of the car, and Lichte did expand on what we can expect to see.

Speaking further, he said: “The foundation for aesthetics lies in the proportions: short overhangs and a long wheelbase combined with a lean cabin on a powerful body. The e-Tron GT features all of the above.” Audi has been testing the prototype e-Tron GT and the final design is unlikely to differ too much from the car seen in images shared by the company. However, as with every prototype, things can change and there is always room for improvement.

Audi Impriving The Car's Efficiency

One thing Audi has worked hard on improving for this car is efficiency. Reducing air resistance for the car was a big thing the company worked on, which they say will translate into greater range for the EV. The less resistance the car faces, the less battery power or fuel it will need to get to its destination. Lichte says, “The foundation for aesthetics lies in the proportions: short overhangs and a long wheelbase combined with a lean cabin on a powerful body. The e-Tron GT features all of the above.” So it sounds like efficiency will very much be the name of the game for electric Audis moving forwards.
