Much has been made of the power that can be unleashed by the 2021 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye, ever since a summer announcement heralding its launch. Even though scarcely more than a handful have been built at the time of this writing, the hype sheets have cited this Redeye as being able to deliver nearly 800 horsepower with a top speed of 203 mph with an equally powerful sticker price of $78, 595. That didn't stop Illinois-based shop Satera Tuning from taking delivery of the first of these Hellcats in January just to see how much power these beasts actually have.

This Hellcat's Packing a 6.2-Liter Supercharged V8

That this new Dodge sports the combined branding of SRT, Hellcat, and Redeye makes it formidable enough in marketing circles. The hyperbole surrounding the model has it that it's the fastest sedan to emerge from the automaker's mass-production factories. That said, the rollout itself could barely outdistance a snail, considering there's been no shortage of pre-orders for this Hellcat.

But what the new Dodge is packing under the hood might make it worth the wait. All that horsepower comes courtesy of a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission. If put on a drag strip, the stock version of this Hellcat would cover the quarter-mile in 10.6 seconds.

The New Dodge Only Had 15 Miles On The Clock

Satera Tuning eventually wants to get this Hellcat to deliver up to a thousand RPMs. But to do that, the company wanted to whip out the trusty dynamometer just to get a few baseline figures. The garage took into account that the new Dodge was still a bit wet behind the ears, having left the assembly line with no modifications and just 15 miles on the odometer.

That said, the folks were impressed over the dyno readings with the runs had the Hellcat rev in the 2,300-6,000 rpm range. The first run saw some encouraging figures with a maximum horsepower of 705.35 with 679.63 pound-feet of torque being delivered at the rear wheels. The second run went even better with the dyno registering 717.3 horsepower with 678.72 pound-feet of torque.

Next Steps For The Hellcat

For Satera, the test was a heck of a great start. The next step for the shop is to boost the Hellcat to 850 rear-wheel horsepower via applications of a custom tuning system and very likely other modifications that may include replacing the intake with a cold air equivalent and swapping out the headers and exhaust system.
