The Ford Raptor pickup is one of the most popular trucks the Blue Oval ever created, so its successor has been eagerly anticipated. And while it was a great truck, there were a few things that fans and car lovers wanted from it that were sadly never featured. But for 2021, and with the reveal just 24 hours away, that could all change. The reveal is set to be live-streamed on Ford's YouTube channel. So, with all that in mind, here’s everything that we want from the 2021 Ford Raptor.

Is The 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor The New King Of V8 Trucks?

The Ram TRX could well be the current king of the V8-powered pickup segment, with a supercharged V8 that pumps out over 700 hp. What potentially let the previous generation of the Raptor down is that V6 engine, and having a V6 again would not cut it against the TRX. However, as the Ford Raptor was spotted testing in early January, a rumored V8 could well be the perfect answer to the might of Ram and the TRX. And those rumors are not just small talk, it's quite a lot of chatter.

Rumor: Raptor-R Model With Supercharged GT500's V8 Engine

The Ram has a 702-hp supercharged V8. However, the rumors are that the 2021 Ford Raptor will have much more power putting it instantly ahead in the V8 pickup truck stakes. The signs point towards there being a Raptor-R model, which will be powered by a mighty 760-hp V8 with further speculation that this might be the Shelby GT500’s supercharged V8. Putting a Mustang engine in a pickup truck is fun on its own, even more so when it's from a Shelby model and it is going in a Raptor.

The Soundtrack And Engine The Truck Deserves

When the previous generation of F-150 Raptor was revealed, that truck was powered by an EcoBoost V6 engine despite many Ford fans hankering for a V8-powered machine. While that was slightly underwhelming, the Raptor was not, proving to be perhaps the best truck Ford had ever produced. All it lacked was that V8 engine, an engine it deserves and with a great soundtrack as well. As good as an EcoBoost V6 is, it doesn’t produce the sound that a V8 does. It’s much more menacing, angrier, and an engine that the truck deserves to have under the hood. Thankfully, it's not long until we find out what will be under the Raptor hood.
